Background / History

Ye Hongyu first appears discussing the Divine Temple’s reemergence with her junior sister, Xiao Ling. Although Xiao Ling urges caution, Ye Hongyu refuses to abandon Fruit Mountain: she has spent centuries stalled at the First-Level God realm and sees the mountain as a rare chance to pursue God King status. 11

She travels to Clear Moon City before Fruit Mountain opens, where she meets Jiang Chen and Li Jiang while competing for the city’s last Heaven-grade room. Though initially wary of Jiang Chen’s offer to share the room, she returns after finding all other inns full. 13 14

Jiang Chen gives Ye Hongyu a Ten-Million-Year External Soul Bone despite her initial refusal. Learning that he already possesses a complete set of Ten-Million-Year Soul Bones, she accepts and promises never to refuse a future request from him. 14 After successfully refining the bone, she gains a pair of divine wings and travels alongside Jiang Chen and Li Jiang toward Fruit Mountain. 15

At Fruit Mountain, Ye Hongyu witnesses Jiang Chen defeat Divine Temple Holy Son Luo Mo and his guards. Her admiration turns into love, though she cannot bring herself to ask him to remain with her. After Jiang Chen enters the mountain alone, she openly confesses her feelings after he has disappeared from sight. 16

Inside Fruit Mountain, Jiang Chen summons Ye Hongyu and Li Jiang to warn them that the buried Divine Ape is draining the visitors’ Life-Origin Divine Sources. Ye Hongyu recognizes that Jiang Chen must have a deeper reason for gathering them and urges an escape once she understands the danger. 17 Jiang Chen later breaks open the mountain’s barrier, allowing her and Li Jiang to flee.
