Background

A Soul Ring manifests when a soul beast dies, carrying the creature’s soul and Soul Power. A Soul Master absorbs the ring through spiritual guidance, merging its power with their Martial Soul and gaining a Soul Skill. Zhou Liang’s first ring appeared as a yellow ring after he killed a Firm-Armored Thorn Turtle, then descended onto him during absorption. 6 161

The commonly accepted age limits for Soul Ring absorption are not absolute. Zhou Liang argues that a Soul Master’s physical constitution, Martial Soul quality, innate Soul Power, and access to long-term medicinal training determine how much berserk Soul Power they can endure. His unusually strong body allows him to absorb rings above conventional limits, including an 800-year second ring and a Ten-Thousand-Year fourth ring. 31 32 82

God-Given Soul Rings differ from beast-derived rings because they are tailored directly to the recipient. Sea God trials award them to those with sufficiently high-level examinations upon reaching a cultivation bottleneck; Zhou Liang uses one at Level 70 and forces it to an unprecedented 300,000 years. 160 166 167

Appearance

Soul Rings generally manifest as luminous circular bands before or around their user. Their colors and aura can change dramatically as their age or nature evolves.
