Background / History
Su Yuntao investigated the ruins of a village destroyed in a conflict between powerful Soul Masters. Though he recognized the danger of involving himself with such figures, he searched the site and found the barely living infant Gu Hengzhi. He chose to rescue him out of both duty and personal conviction, bringing him to his home in Notting City. 1
He paid more than fifty Gold Soul Coins—nearly half a year of salary—for Gu Hengzhi’s treatment and supplements, and continued caring for him throughout his recovery. 2 Over the following years, he became Gu Hengzhi’s guardian and older-brother figure, supporting his writing, refusing to take any share of its earnings, and preparing him for his martial-soul awakening. 2 3
After Gu awakened a damaged Stone Statue martial soul with level-five innate soul power, Su Yuntao helped him complete his Spirit Hall registration and taught him his first meditation method. 4 He later provided Gu with a recommendation letter for Notting Junior Spirit Master Academy when Gu reached Rank 6. 11
