History

Team Rocket began in Eastsea City as Su Yu’s organization, selling Energy Cubes while secretly developing Pokémon as a replacement for Spirit Pagoda Spirit Souls. Its early business success made East Sea Pharmacy covet its manufacturing technology, but the organization initially lacked the Soul Master strength to protect itself. 3 4

To solve this weakness, Su Yu and Arceus created Old Dou from a permanent Double Team clone powered by the Fist Plate. Old Dou became the first of Team Rocket’s Eighteen Elders and provided the organization with Titled Douluo-level deterrence. 8

After surviving Guang Biao’s assault, Team Rocket dismissed employees who had fled, began cultivating loyal core members, and placed Lin He in charge of daily operations. Its Pokémon Soul Spirit project subsequently became its central business venture. 12

The public release event presented Pokémon Soul Spirits as companions capable of providing multiple Soul Rings, fighting beside their contractors, and potentially granting rings up to Hundred-Thousand-Year quality. The event drew widespread attention, but also attracted the Holy Spirit Church and intensified Team Rocket’s conflict with Spirit Pagoda. 23

Dark Hummingbird’s attack on Rocket Team Square forced Team Rocket to reveal its concealed strength. Arceus’s appearance drove the Level 97 Super Douluo away, transforming Team Rocket from a controversial new business into a feared regional power. 26 27

Over time, Team Rocket expanded from Eastsea City into Skysea City, Shrek City, Heaven Dou City, and other regions. Its Shrek branch eventually surpassed the Eastsea headquarters in development, while the former Star Luo Federation was renamed Kanto and assigned to Lin He for reconstruction. 29 136 173

Energy Cubes

Energy Cubes were Team Rocket’s original commercial product and displaced East Sea Pharmacy from Eastsea City’s low-end spiritual-item market. 4
