Background / History

Three years before the story, Su Yu discovered a critically wounded clone of Arceus after transmigrating into the Douluo Plane. The clone became both his Golden Finger and his Arceus Martial Soul, but its near-fatal condition left Su Yu with only level-one Soul Power. Arceus could not use an ordinary Spirit Soul to form Soul Rings; it required the scattered Elemental Slates instead. Gathering all eighteen would create the Creation Slate and restore it. 1

After Su Yu located the Fist Plate at Eastsea Academy, Arceus absorbed it and gained Fighting-type authority. The Steel Slate later granted Steel authority. Each recovered Slate strengthened both Arceus and Su Yu, establishing the Plate-collection process as the basis of their shared advancement. 3 16

Arceus established the Pokémon World within Arceus Space as a habitat where Pokémon could reproduce, grow, and eventually generate Power of Creation for it. It accelerated the world's time flow to speed Pokémon development and used Creation Energy to make Pokémon, Eggs, permanent avatars, and specialized protectors for Team Rocket. 17 21 67

Its public intervention against Dark Hummingbird led surviving train passengers to revere it as the Creator God. Their belief produced Faith Power, a versatile energy that could heal its wounds and be used offensively or defensively. This gave Arceus an additional path to recovery beyond the Plates. 86

The Dragon Plate enabled Arceus to enter godhood with the support of its elders. Despite this restoration, it remained troubled by erased memories, a hostile black energy within its body, and the identity of whoever had injured it. 105 106

Appearance

Arceus is generally depicted as a towering, majestic white-armored divine figure with ruby-like eyes. Its armor changes color according to the Plate or attribute being used, including dark red for Fighting, gray-silver for Steel, black for Dark, earth-yellow for Ground, and violet-blue for Dragon. 3 16 86 105 124

Personality

Arceus is calm, calculating, and highly protective of the Pokémon it creates or encounters. It intervened to save Charizard and Charmander from Soul Masters attempting to capture them, and it chose to purify Abyss-corrupted Greninja rather than destroy it. 148 169

Though it possesses overwhelming authority, Arceus usually avoids wasteful conflict. It allowed Dark Hummingbird to escape rather than aggravate its own injuries, and it later spared the Spirit Pagoda while destroying only the Qian Gu Family's soul-guided bomb technology. 27 179

It is also an experimental creator. Arceus analyzes divine authorities, reconstructs them into new life, and accepts that some creations may fail. Its unsuccessful attempt to create Xerneas showed that Power of Creation alone cannot replace a divine beast's origin or authority. 90 124 136
