"That's good."
An Yi put the Wings of the Eagle back into his Storage Ring. "When would it be convenient for you, Senior?"
Medicine Elder pondered for a moment. "Tomorrow. I shall return to this auction house at this time tomorrow. Then, we'll find somewhere quiet and discuss the details."
"It's a deal. See you tomorrow, then."
An Yi cupped his hands briskly. "Farewell."
With that, he left the reception room with Little Fairy under Ya Fei's complicated gaze and made his way, as if he knew the place well, toward Ya Fei's private courtyard behind the auction house.
As they walked through the quiet corridor, Little Fairy ultimately could not suppress her curiosity and asked softly, "An Yi, that flying battle technique... what exactly is it?"
"Just what it sounds like—a special battle technique that lets people fly."
With his hands behind his head, An Yi explained casually, "On the Battle Qi Continent, only powerful experts who have cultivated to the Dou King level can transform battle qi into wings and fly through the air. But with this thing, cultivators below the Dou King level can enjoy the privilege of flight ahead of time. At a critical moment, it is immensely useful whether for traveling or escaping."
Little Fairy froze slightly, her steps slowing by half a beat. "Then... this kind of battle technique must be incredibly valuable, right?"
"It is quite valuable. The one I have is High Profound Tier."
An Yi nodded. "But flying battle techniques are valuable mainly because they're rare. If it were auctioned off with great fanfare, and some filthy rich sucker showed up, it could fetch at least two million gold coins."
"Two million?!"
Little Fairy sucked in a sharp breath, her expression changing instantly. "Then you... you actually used it..."
"Come on, it's just a means of transportation. It isn't that useful to me at my current level. If I really start running, I might not even be slower than this thing flying."
Seeing through her thoughts, An Yi waved a hand indifferently. "It wouldn't be worthwhile for me to sell it for money, either. Rather than let it gather dust in my Storage Ring, it's naturally best to trade it for something genuinely useful."
Hearing this, Little Fairy came to a complete stop. She lowered her head, and her formerly light steps seemed as heavy as lead.
An Yi took two steps forward, then noticed no one was beside him. He turned back and looked at her in confusion. "Why aren't you coming? Did something happen?"
Little Fairy slowly raised her head. Complex emotions flickered in her clear eyes—gratitude, fear, and a trace of helpless disbelief.
"You're trading a treasure worth two million gold coins with that mysterious person... for me, aren't you?"
"Yeah." An Yi nodded frankly, then asked, "What's wrong?"
Little Fairy's eyes reddened, and even her voice trembled. "You... why are you so good to me?"
"We... we've only known each other for such a short time..."
In truth, even now, Little Fairy still found it all somewhat unreal.
She did not even know why she had been so inexplicably compelled yesterday to leave Qingshan Town with An Yi and come to this utterly unfamiliar Wutan City.
Perhaps it was because of that perilous life-saving favor from half a year ago;
Perhaps it was because he had casually tossed the precious Seven-Colored Poison Scripture to her without the slightest hesitation;
Or perhaps it was because, after learning that she possessed the Disaster Poison Body everyone dreaded, he had shown neither disgust nor fear. Instead, he had constantly been searching for a way to save her.
Yet all of it made her feel an intense sense of unreality.
They had only just met!
An Yi was simply far too good to her!
So good that she felt overwhelmed by gratitude and unease, so excessive that she had no idea how she could ever repay him!
Seeing that Little Fairy looked as though she was about to cry from being touched, An Yi sighed helplessly. He walked over, raised a hand, and lightly flicked her smooth forehead.
"Ouch!" Little Fairy covered her forehead and looked at him aggrievedly.
"Big sis, did your brain short-circuit again?"
An Yi patted her head. "Didn't you already promise to give yourself to me? How could I just watch you get poisoned to death?"
"If you fail to control that Disaster Poison Body and end up covered in deadly poison, then one day when I can't hold myself back and kiss you, I'll get poisoned to death on the spot. Wouldn't that be a huge loss for me?"
Little Fairy was so angered by his utterly shameless hooligan remarks that she laughed. Two alluring blushes instantly rose on her cheeks, but this time, she did not rush to argue with him as before.
She bit her lower lip and looked at An Yi with watery eyes. "Then... what if I really can't control this poison body in the end?"
At her words, An Yi suddenly bent down. His face, half-covered by a silver mask that revealed only a perfect jawline, drew right up before Little Fairy's eyes.
They were so close that they could even feel each other's breaths.
"Then how about... while your poison body hasn't completely erupted yet, and the poison in you isn't too strong, I... take a taste first and see what it's like?"
"..."
Little Fairy's entire face instantly turned red like a ripe apple. Flustered and angry, she shoved An Yi in the chest and glared at him. "Pervert! Lecher!"
"Ha ha ha!"
An Yi straightened up with the push and pinched her puffed-up cheek. "You haven't even tried the method yet, so how do you know you definitely won't be able to control it? Stop scaring yourself and overthinking things. Heaven never leaves a blind sparrow to starve; there is always a way out."
Looking at the boy's confident, flamboyant smile, the fear and unease in Little Fairy's heart were miraculously soothed.
Biting her red lips, she whispered sincerely, "Thank you."
"All right, all right, cut it out." An Yi grabbed her wrist and, with practiced ease, pushed open the gate to Ya Fei's rear courtyard. Without looking back, he said, "No need to thank me. You've already promised yourself to me anyway, so sooner or later, I'll get my two million back from you—with interest."
Little Fairy pursed her lips and let him pull her forward.
The moment she entered the courtyard, she keenly noticed the exquisite details everywhere and the uniquely delicate fragrance of a woman's residence. Her feminine intuition made her unable to resist asking:
"That chief auctioneer from before... judging by the way you spoke, you seem quite familiar with each other?"
There was a hint of sourness in Little Fairy's tone that even she had not noticed. "Is she the acquaintance you specifically came back to Wutan City to see?"
"Yeah, Ya Fei and I are pretty close." An Yi admitted without the slightest instinct for self-preservation. "During the years I spent loafing around Wutan City, I freeloaded meals, drinks, and lodging from her more than a few times. She's always taken good care of me."
An Yi stopped walking, turned to Little Fairy's slightly puffed cheeks, and deliberately leaned in to sniff smugly.
"Oh? Why do I smell such a strong sour scent? What, are you already jealous?"
"Pah! Who's jealous of you? Stop being so full of yourself!" Little Fairy's cheeks heated up, and she sharply turned away from him.
"Ah..."
An Yi clasped his hands behind his back, looked up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle, and let out a long, irritating sigh. Deeply moved, he said, "What am I going to do? You're already so jealous now. You'll have plenty of vinegar to drink in the future."
"After all, a peerless man as suave and handsome as your big brother here is destined to have endless romantic encounters and beautiful confidantes all over the world. You'd better learn to be more generous."
Little Fairy was completely stunned by his brazen words. After a long while, she finally squeezed out three words through clenched teeth:
"Shameless. Bastard!"
