Power Progression

Background

An Yi transmigrated to the Battle Qi Continent. At age three, when he first guided Qi into his body, he received the White Tiger Bloodline from a system gift pack. The bloodline granted him an exceptionally durable body, white hair, and the foundation for his later Geng Metal Qi cultivation 1.

His parents were Dou Spirit military experts who died protecting Xiao Lin, the former Xiao Household patriarch. The Xiao Household subsequently raised An Yi as a martyr’s orphan, bestowed upon him the surname Xiao, and called him Xiao An Yi. An Yi never accepted the name as his own and continued to regard himself as an outsider 1.

To avoid becoming a target in the Xiao Household’s factional conflicts, he cultivated an image of a lazy, harmless playboy who progressed only slowly. In reality, he trained beneath a waterfall, repeatedly battered his body against its current, and punched through the surrounding cliff until he created an artificial cave 1 8.

After the household elders tried to make him a scapegoat for Wang Teng’s death, An Yi repaid the family for its support and left. He later disclosed to Nalan Yanran that he had killed Wang Teng after the Cloud Mist Sect disciple pursued him with the intent to murder him 22 23 127.

Appearance

An Yi is a tall, muscular young man whose appearance changes alongside his bloodlines and transformations. After his first year in the Magic Beast Mountain Range, he grew from roughly 1.7 meters to nearly 1.9 meters tall 25 39.

• Naturally silver-white hair and clear sky-blue eyes; his eyes become dark-golden vertical pupils in White Tiger combat states 27.
• Often uses masks, altered clothing, and Ya Fei’s waterproof black hair dye to conceal his identity 33 60.
• His White Tiger half-beast form manifests white ears, fur-covered limbs, tiger claws, fangs, a tail, and a body exceeding two meters in height 76.

Personality

An Yi presents himself as lazy, gluttonous, shameless, and unserious. He enjoys provoking others, watching dramatic conflicts unfold, and framing his own intimidation or violence as “politeness.” His public behavior is deliberately absurd enough that most people dismiss him as a useless young master rather than a dangerous cultivator 2 33.

Beneath that façade, he is exceptionally cautious, calculating, and survival-focused. He distrusts promises, noble intentions, and dependence on powerful patrons because the Xiao Household’s treatment taught him that an outsider can be discarded whenever core interests are involved. He believes only power he personally controls can provide genuine security 11 53.

He is ruthless toward enemies and readily uses deception, ambushes, or environmental hazards to remove threats. However, once someone earns his trust, he becomes fiercely protective and is willing to endanger his cultivation or future prospects for them 18 41 49.

His confrontation with Protector Wu demonstrates his ability to coordinate allies as well as fight personally. Although he jokes about banditry, his decision to draw the Hall of Souls’ attention toward himself is intended to protect people left behind in the Jia Ma Empire 154 159.

The Vermilion Bird Divine Blood awakened when An Yi became a Dou King.

• Queen Medusa — An Yi’s patient, ally, and eventual intimate partner. He heals her injuries with Azure Dragon vitality, while she provides protection and access to the Snake-People Tribe’s resources. After her evolution, she alternates between human and tiny Seven-Colored Heaven-Devouring Python forms and accompanies him toward the Black-Corner Region 90 111 122 159.
• Azure Scale — A younger companion whom An Yi protects and clothes. He helps awaken her Three-Flower Jade Serpent Eyes, then entrusts her to Sky Serpent Mansion for proper training and a safer, more independent future 83 86 104 107.
• Nalan Yanran — An old acquaintance who defended An Yi when the Xiao Household tried to blame him for Wang Teng’s death.
