Background / History

Several hundred years before the present events, the previous Snake-People Queen was ambushed and killed by Dou Emperors from the Gama Empire and neighboring nations. With the tribe weakened internally and unable to oppose the Cloud Mist Sect’s Dou Zong leader, the Snake-People were driven into the Tagor Great Desert. Medusa inherited the responsibility of leading them out of the desert and reclaiming their former homeland. 92

Medusa seeks the Green Lotus Core Flame to force an evolution beyond the Dou Emperor realm. Her first attempt in the underground magma world leaves her badly burned, with shattered tail scales and damaged origin; An Yi’s Azure Dragon life force stabilizes and accelerates her recovery. 87 89

After months of recuperation and preparation, she attempts the evolution while Gu He’s expedition attacks the Snake-People holy city. Her original snake body is burned to ash and struck by heavenly lightning, but she is reborn as a Seven-Colored Heaven-Devouring Python. 97 101

Years before accompanying An Yi to the Black-Corner Region, Medusa visited it several times in disguise to search for special medicinal ingredients. Her experience there gives her knowledge of Black Seal City’s entrenched factions and connections. 161

Appearance

Medusa is a peerlessly beautiful Snake-Person queen with an imposing, cold presence. She typically wears purple brocade robes and retains a long purple snake tail marked by noble scales. 87 92

She initially treats An Yi with suspicion and coercive authority, yet pragmatically accepts his healing when the Green Lotus Core Flame leaves her vulnerable. Their prolonged proximity gradually exposes a teasing, mischievous, and emotionally conflicted side beneath her queenly reserve. 87 88 90

Medusa struggles to acknowledge her growing attachment to An Yi. She permits increasing familiarity while hiding her feelings behind threats, sarcasm, and formal distance; privately, she is disappointed when he refuses to overstep her boundaries. 91 93 96

After her evolution, she becomes openly jealous when An Yi shows affection to Ya Fei or Yun Yun. She sometimes bites him or refuses his offerings while angry, but remains attentive to his health: she restrains her feeding when he is exhausted and panics when she realizes she has weakened him. 115 122 145 146

She recognizes An Yi’s ruthlessness despite his harmless manner, yet often serves as the more cautious voice during his ventures. In the Black-Corner Region, she warns him against provoking Black Seal City and refuses to act as an enforcer for his robberies. 148 161

When Gu He’s group attacks to seize the Heavenly Flame, Medusa shares her Dou Qi with An Yi so he can temporarily fight at the Dou King level. She begins her evolution while the Snake-People commanders and An Yi defend the temple. 97 98

Nirvana and Soul Conflict

Medusa successfully evolves into a Seven-Colored Heaven-Devouring Python, but her consciousness falls dormant and later awakens to find herself sharing a body with the Python’s newborn soul. Her unstable condition makes An Yi’s bloodline energy essential to her stabilization. 101 110 111

Journey with An Yi

Medusa accompanies An Yi in miniature python form as he travels beyond the desert. She awakens during his attempt to devour the Green Lotus Core Flame and absorbs excess energy to ease the strain on him. As her soul conflict persists, An Yi begins pursuing alchemy and hopes eventually to refine a Sixth-Grade Soul-Merging Pill for her. 103 110 111

While accompanying him, she witnesses his rapid progress as an alchemist and grows jealous of his intimacy with Ya Fei and Yun Yun. Her confrontation with Yun Yun gives way to alarm when she discovers how badly An Yi has exhausted himself; he promises that he will personally refine the Soul-Merging Pill she needs. 115 122 124 145 146

Misty Cloud Sect Conflict

Medusa appears publicly at the Misty Cloud Sect as a Dou Zong, shocking experts who believed she had perished during her evolution. She and Yun Shan initially appear poised to fight, but their attacks instead turn toward the people behind them. When Protector Wu attacks with soul-targeting chains, Medusa shields herself, though his greater cultivation begins to overwhelm her defense. 152 153

After Protector Wu’s self-destruction leaves An Yi near death, Medusa finds him with Yun Yun and supplies Dou Qi to help revive his Vermilion Bird Divine Flame. Once he recovers, she accompanies him on his departure for the Black-Corner Region. 155 159

As An Yi raids settlements in the Black-Corner Region, Medusa draws on her previous visits to warn him about the powerful factions and complicated connections around Black Seal City. She continues traveling with him but refuses his suggestion that she serve as the enforcer for his robberies. 161
