After watching for several days, Hill felt that this was also why William gave Perfect Baldhead's group quests every time. The two sides really did not get along.
Perfect Baldhead's side wanted to be first. Though they charged around recklessly too, they left as soon as they accepted a quest.
As for Doomsday's side, ideally, all ten quests would belong to them.
Looking down, Hill saw that Doomsday's group had finally blocked Perfect Baldhead's side today. The result was that they got beaten up.
Yes, beaten up physically. It seemed they still could not cast spells on each other to kill one another, so fists and feet were the only methods available.
But snide sarcasm could not beat reckless brutes. The Doomsday group was pressed to the ground and pummeled. That bald loli was actually sitting on Doomsday Romance's head and slapping his face. Hill nearly suffocated.
Hill turned his gaze and saw a female Priest named A Deer secretly squeezing into the crowd, using a Priest's hammer to smash the heads on the ground.
Doomsday Romance shouted, "Just wait until the open beta, when our main force arrives! Perfect Baldhead! You won't be able to leave the beginner village then!"
Someone beside Perfect Baldhead named Luo Sanquan mimicked Doomsday Romance's tone. "Just wait until the open beta! Once our people arrive! Doomsday! You won't be able to leave the beginner village then."
A crowd of people laughed and pointed, while some muttered that there were still idiots like this around these days.
Doomsday's people had rather thick skins and actually did not leave. But while they were fighting, a group of solo players had already surrounded the gates of the Lord's Manor.
Perfect Baldhead shouted, "Oh no, oh no, we're too late!" Holding Xiao Liuliu's hand, the two of them charged headfirst into the crowd on four little short legs. The solo players very obviously let those two through, while everyone else stood with their hands tucked away and guarded against Doomsday's people, apparently intending to block them until the very end.
Hill saw William standing behind the tightly shut gates, smiling. The gloating that radiated from within made Hill deeply approve.
But from William's conduct during this period, Hill could tell that the system capable of summoning players was the real master. William's behavior was obviously constrained.
Yet this system was probably subject to many restrictions as well. Since this continent had given It an opportunity, Hill felt that this God of Space-Time might truly be a newborn deity. He just did not know whether It had originated from this native world. Not just anyone could come up with a method like summoning players.
People in Hill's world were all too familiar with this Supreme God model behind the scenes.
When William was inside the Lord's Manor, Hill had not watched him closely. A Sky Knight could not possibly fail to notice someone staring at him for a long time.
But Hill could also sense that the people around William were extremely proud of William receiving divine favor. When they issued ordinary quests to the players, they remained very composed. They were not shaken just because every player was a professional, which made it seem that William had given them enough confidence.
Moreover, William's subordinates did not react much to the players. Hill could infer that some of the players' conversations were being concealed, but such concealment was not difficult to break through for those who knew the truth and possessed firm wills.
The players often held small tablet computers carrying extremely weak divine power. Every time they activated one, they would mutter, "Thank the great God of Space-Time." Such casual believers were enough for a newborn deity. With these players around, many people in this world would certainly mention the God of Space-Time. Whether out of fear or affection, people had acknowledged Its existence.
Hill felt that on the day this deity raised Its Divine Throne and charged into the Starry Sky, Its divine power would certainly not be low.
There was no need to keep watching William's side, so Hill planned to take a look at the players' camp.
Although he had prepared himself mentally, Hill still nearly suffocated when he landed on the mountain range beside that small camp. What the hell are these things?!
Several dozen houses had been built crookedly in the camp. Or perhaps they could be called shacks? Some of them trembled lightly in the breeze. Hill thought, Didn't William have them help civilians build houses? They could get away with skills like this?
They did indeed have Mages. At the very least, Hill saw several earthen houses made from four walls of earth, without windows. The doors seemed to have been smashed open afterward, and their shapes were rather strange.
But perhaps due to insufficient control over their magic power, the four walls were actually different heights. One house even had enormous gaps between its walls. Its owner had covered three of those gaps with wooden boards and used the largest gap as a door.
Looking down at those houses, Hill saw that they at least knew to cover roofs made of mismatched wooden boards with large leaves. That counted as having some common sense. Or perhaps they had been drenched by rain and their houses had flooded, so this was a temporary solution?
It seemed the players had relatively few Mages as well. Hill felt it was because they had not yet figured out how Mages learned. Or perhaps all these players had rushed toward the highly destructive Fire-Element Law spells? The Five Fireball Sect had always remained blessed by the masses in Hill's world. These people were probably no different.
But Hill believed that once they learned about the mental modeling required by Mages, many people would choose that profession. The foundation of technology was mathematics. In a technological society, there would be no shortage of people who had studied advanced mathematics and could use it flexibly.
Hill found learning Earth-Element Law spells very easy. He was already used to envisioning the framework of an entire building in his mind. Even when using computer drafting, he would construct it mentally first to see where his own design differed from the computer's. Before he was forty, Hill had already become an associate senior engineer and had been working wholeheartedly toward becoming a full senior engineer. Then disaster suddenly struck, and all his plans fell apart.
Some players remained in the camp, apparently gathering materials. Hill heard them cursing the planners for being inhuman, saying they even had to learn how to make herbal medicine themselves.
Hill saw a demonstration video playing from the tablets in their hands. The players had to stir the herbs according to the rhythm in the video. The moment they lost focus, the herbs would go poof and spoil.
It seemed this deity had no interest in providing life skills, so the players could only learn on their own. The system's only help for them appeared to be the Appraisal Technique. But for the natives, this instructional knowledge was precious enough. This deity was quite generous.
"This is really interesting," Hill thought silently. I want to play too! Being able to build the houses he imagined in his mind without restraint had been Hill's greatest fantasy during his teenage years. Unfortunately, reality told him that he could not even afford Lego back then.
Though he had later struggled his way to success, he still remembered the bitterness of entering a Lego store and discovering that the sets he wanted were too advanced. Even several thousand yuan in New Year's money could not afford a fraction of the cost.
Hill had once thought about building a fantasy town within his own territory, a small city made with magic that completely departed from conventional civil engineering structures. Unfortunately, everything was a dream now.
He could not live even one day of William's life.
Lost in thought, Hill was awakened by a rumbling sound. Looking down, he saw a relatively large house suddenly collapse.
He took a closer look. The fake loli Perfect Baldhead had done it.
Their group seemed to have finished their quests and was heading home to eat. Passing that house, Perfect Baldhead jumped up and kicked it a few times. Hill guessed it was Doomsday Family's house. Unfortunately, that family's way of thinking was unfathomable. Such a large pure wooden house had no foundation and no beams. It was built like a little cabin, yet it was three times bigger than the other houses. Hill had noticed that shoddy structure swaying in the wind as soon as he arrived. It had even been built at the mouth of the valley, where the wind was strongest. Perfect Baldhead's group had probably remembered their anger while passing by and kicked it a few times. They had not expected it to exceed its limit and collapse.
Hill heard Perfect Baldhead's friends burst into laughter. "Impressive! The fake loli with limitless strength! Little Baldhead, master house-wrecker!"
The Doomsday people left behind at camp crawled out of the house and began sending messages on their tablets. Perfect Baldhead looked at them, tugged on his ponytail, and said worriedly, "Oh dear! This time we've really become mortal enemies!"
Someone named Demon Sword said, "Doomsday is famous for being narrow-minded. You sat on their leader and slapped his face today, yet you still think you haven't offended them thoroughly? I'm already waiting to log off and call people to join the open beta!"
Xiao Liuliu said, "Enough! Why pretend to be innocent? This game is definitely going to become popular. Just call everyone over."
Perfect Baldhead said gloomily, "Do you think I'm afraid of fighting? I'm afraid they'll curse me on the forums for kicking down a house with one kick! I'll be laughed to death!"
A Deer suddenly laughed. "Master rode on a man's neck to fight in the morning, then kicked down his house at night! What kind of grudge is this?" She turned to Xiao Liuliu. "Mistress, shouldn't you pay more attention to Master's mental health? If he plays Lolita for too long and becomes overly concerned about other men, that'll be the end of it!"
Luo Sanquan cut in, "The love and hate between Perfect Baldhead and Doomsday Romance began with a house kicked down in one blow!"
Xiao Liuliu rolled her eyes. "It's fine. I don't care if he makes eyes at men!" Everyone else immediately burst into wild laughter.
The bald loli could only shut up and accept the mockery. He had already seen quite a few solo players recording videos. From now on, he would be a man who had starred in a hot forum post!
They did not have to wait long before Doomsday's group ran back.
Doomsday Romance had barely begun to curse, "Perfect Baldhead! Are you looking to die?"
Perfect Baldhead replied in a coquettish tone, "Sorry~ I didn't mean to~ I didn't expect the house to fall over after I touched it so lightly~~"
The dead silence at the scene explained everyone's suffering. It was not just Doomsday's people; even his own companions were nauseated into breaking out in cold sweat.
Doomsday Romance could not speak for a long time. Perfect Baldhead had not used the altered voice he used when accepting William's quests. He had used that rough, burly man's voice to act coquettish.
Seeing that no one spoke, Perfect Baldhead continued, "Oh my! You don't want me to compensate you? You're such a nice person~ Then we'll be leaving first~"
The moment he finished speaking, he dragged Xiao Liuliu away and ran. The others came to their senses and immediately fled as well.
Doomsday Romance panted heavily and screamed several times. In the end, he began cursing loudly, but after only a few sentences, the system censored him. Enraged, he logged off directly. The remaining people looked at one another, unwilling to speak, before finally starting to clean up the house.
