He had managed Aglaia's underground area too well, and Bhaal, lurking in the nearby swamp, had never noticed that there were still children's corpses a thousand kilometers away for him to absorb.
But in the Undead Swamp without Hill's arrival, the Underdark was crisscrossed with waterways. Bhaal would certainly have sensed that trace of aura. Even if the blood was gone and the organs had been removed, enough corpses could still give him considerable help.

If he had obtained the bodies of those children back then, even if he could not defeat Hill, he might have been able to escape!
