The black shadow around Hydra was why they called him a Shadow Cloak. It could shield a Priest of the Dark Night from more than half of almost any kind of damage—except light and Silver Moon spells.
The many-headed serpent's twelve pairs of eyes gleamed. His twelve mouths spat shadow bolts without pause, smashing the larger falling rocks and logs in his path. As for the poisoned metal arrows shooting from either side of the passage, Hydra feared none of them.
His speed made life difficult for the Undead following close behind to take advantage of his protection. The poisoned arrows did nothing to Hydra, but if they stayed too close and took a couple of hits, they would have to beg the Priests and Holy Knights for help.
