Hill hesitated, wanted to speak but stopped, and circled around the cats' pool.
Eilistraee and Vhaeraun showed no reaction at all. Were they completely asleep?
"Hill?" Falan's voice sounded behind him. "Liszt told me things had quieted down around the Floating Castle for now... Hmm? What are you doing? What happened to that pool?"
"Oh, two of Corellon's children are recuperating here for the time being. It's nothing serious. I was just checking on them." Hill paused for a few seconds before answering slowly. "Coming out just once drained more than half their strength. They probably won't wake up again for another three months."
Falan nodded and said nothing more. He had never liked interfering in Hill's dealings with the Elves.
"Grandfather." Hill smiled. "Toril will probably be peaceful for a while now. The Spellplague has only just ended, and most nations are rebuilding their homes. At a time like this... they're still fairly polite to outsiders and won't easily resort to underhanded schemes.
They're also afraid that even cross-border merchants will stop coming to their countries. That would lead to shortages of supplies.
Especially on Faerûn. In the past, merchant caravans... Waterdeep, Amn, and Calimshan accounted for roughly two-thirds of them, while most of the rest came from Silver Moon City.
Silver Moon City wasn't affected this time... but they probably aren't in the mood for trade right now.
After all, the one responsible for managing the caravans was Shalor's father... Shalor was Edna's mother in Luskan.
He probably has to go to Luskan and deal with his daughter, who has fallen into depression.
At a time like this, as long as someone is willing to bring goods there, those countries will be more welcoming. They probably won't interfere with you looking for materials across the various lands.
