Hill suddenly stopped. His head tilted five degrees as he tried to make sense of the strange feeling that had come over him... Was this world even less dangerous than he had thought?
No. It was probably much like his old world. There were regional wars and hardline confrontations between major powers... but those confrontations played out in nearby smaller countries that could not fight back. The major powers certainly did not fight at home.
So long as a country was strong enough, even its fiercest internal struggles had to stay within certain limits.
Yet the gods of Oaisis, despite making no visible moves and showing no miracles for centuries, still had such a strong presence that humans treated them with reverence.
Their position and role must still be important, then... Could they be arbitrators for some international body like the United Nations?
Hill started walking again, struck by an odd thought... Had some "someone" decided he had done too much in Toril and sent him somewhere full of familiar sights so he could get some proper rest?
Oaisis seemed to trust Hill's promise. He had placed no restrictions on Hill himself... He relied entirely on Hill's self-restraint.
But Hill had no intention of losing control of himself.
He glanced back at the scantily dressed women posing in the display windows. Belatedly realizing what kind of district this was, he hurried away... For a moment, he had almost thought he had returned to a certain tulip country!
Then he nearly laughed... He had reached the neighboring shopping street through a narrow alley off Mage Street.
Both sides of that alley had looked lively enough.
So that was what all the activity was about!
Hill headed toward the Hall of Abundance with a peculiar feeling... In that moment, he truly recaptured
