Liszt looked at Hill, whose face was full of emotion, and could not help asking, "Sir, you don't seem particularly fond of this city or the people in it... why..."
Hill pursed his lips. "You're right.
But how should I put it? When I saw that the earl had three children, I couldn't help watching for a while.
And at first, I had a fairly good impression of him.
It's just, well... although his attitude toward his children wasn't what I initially thought, at least he was still a reasonably normal lord.
Fortunately, I didn't get everything wrong."
Hill recalled his initial impression of the family and could not help shaking his head with a sigh. Really... a life with too many twists could make even an observer feel like an idiot.
The only thing that still offered him some consolation was the scene before him: the former Earl Ster was indeed willing to fight to protect his people.
The goodwill toward his subjects that Hill had sensed at the beginning had not been false.
The Undead were actually all right. Even those from Eden, with William keeping them under control, would show civilians some restraint.
The Moon Clan, however—the Moon Clan under Triton's control—would only seize the chance to get a few more attacks in... especially after discovering that the Undead tried to avoid full-area attacks whenever civilians were nearby.
The former earl had first ordered his eldest son to protect the retreating civilians, then volunteered to take up the rear guard... although he would not go so far as to rush into the middle of the battlefield to save some unfortunate civilians, a lord who could do this much was already a rare good lord in a fantasy world.
He was not one of Tyr's Followers, after all.
