The Undead were different.
Each of them was independent. Even married couples had distinctly individual styles and never sought any sort of uniformity.
Yet when they worked together, they always found that strange point of mutual understanding. Without discussing anything, they knew exactly what the other intended to do.
It truly was unbelievable.
Lathander, whose subordinates had always operated alone and considered even a small squad the limit, felt as though he had discovered a new continent.
He looked seriously at Hill, whose gaze was somewhat unfocused as he pondered something. "Hill, my friend, doesn't the Undead world have any storybooks to read?"
Weren't Toril's many secrets hidden within such books as well?
Mortals loved recording things that should never have appeared, even when every word they wrote foretold their own deaths.
Like that Book of Darkness connected to Shar.
When Lathander had first learned that mortals could actually achieve such a thing, he had been thoroughly startled.
Fortunately, intelligent people capable of peering into the essence of darkness generally had no interest in him.
For that, he actually had two gods to thank: Selûne and Amaunator.
Because he did not want Amaunator to be revived so easily, Ao had been extremely resolute in destroying everything connected to Amaunator.
Only Amaunator's own innate Divine Artifact had been left behind.
Mortals did not know of Amaunator's existence, so naturally no one praised the sun.
And Tyr had, to some extent, almost replaced most of Amaunator's divine domains.
The practical people of Toril rarely worshiped natural phenomena that did not affect their lives.
Not to mention that the desert regions of Faerûn were controlled by the Fire Elemental Lord... the people of those deserts believed the suffering and heat they endured were all brought by those fire elementals.
