Hill could not help looking up at the giant screen. The Undead had cleared the battlefield of enemies and were now watching the fight between the giant spider and the masked figure from a distance.

They had not kept their distance out of good behavior, of course. The giant spider's venom splashed everywhere, strands of web hung around the cave, and petals flew through the air. Any Undead who went near them died on contact.

Even those who only wanted to watch had suffered at first because they stood too close. But William had clearly sent a warning to their tablets. Most of the Undead now stood a kilometer away, with a thin Ice Wall raised in front of them to block the flying venom.

So the Undead who died beyond the Ice Wall earned nothing but loud laughter from their companions.

For anyone who had played games for years, it was perfectly normal for a story quest to end with two bosses fighting a battle the players could not join. Plenty of Undead watched with delighted fascination, but just as many lost interest and went straight back to town to rest.

Selûne asked Hill in confusion, "Why don't they care how this fight ends? If Shar's priestess loses, that Wax Demon could kill them all, couldn't she?

"She's a Demigod! Numbers won't help against her.

"Shouldn't they be more careful? They might not die for good, but the city could be destroyed! All those Mages spent days building it..."

Even though Selûne knew Undead Mages were everywhere, Mages were still precious in the goddess's eyes!

Shar cut in angrily. "What nonsense! Are you cursing my priestess?"

"William doesn't believe a servant of the Lady of Loss will lose. He's already told the Undead this battle will end in victory,"
