Shar seemed used to Selûne's shamelessness. She merely asked in a cold voice, "The Undead brought so many things to Toril. Why did you notice only the most useless ones?"

Hill silently lowered his head and sipped his wine. Shar had seen right through Selûne's game, so she had clearly watched her share of the spectacle too.

Selûne replied carelessly, "What makes something useful or useless? My dear sister, if it makes me happy, it's useful.

"Of course, you have goals of your own. I doubt you can imagine how bored I get.

"Unfortunately, I have no goals, no desires, nothing at all.

"So what else can I do? I have to find my own fun."

Shar fell silent for a while. She could understand what Selûne meant. Shar had always enjoyed solitude. She could spend tens of thousands of years in darkness, go out now and then without finding anything that caught her interest, exchange a few words with her sister, and return to dancing with the dark.

But Selûne loved a crowd. Even before she made that ridiculous sun, she had enjoyed wandering around in search of amusement. Those Primordials had become her chosen ones because the Moon Maiden liked finding people to talk to.

Shar hated her sister for more than turning dark Toril into the complicated, noisy world it was now. If Selûne had patiently tried to persuade her back then, the Daughter of Dark Night might eventually have agreed. At the very least, she could have kept one place on Toril that belonged to her alone, a place of nothing but darkness.

Instead, she could now find nowhere in the world she had created that felt like hers.
