Fortunately, few civilians were hurt. They had seen the notices and knew better than to approach either faction's strongholds.
City guards had also cordoned off the strongholds. The two sides could fight all they wanted as long as they stayed inside those areas; everyone else could carry on with their lives.
Some residents with nearby rooftops even posted prices for seats and sold sunflower seeds, stools, and little bottles of red wine.
For now, though, the struggle over the strongholds was secondary.
The Legendary Mercenary Group intended to attack the Five Cities of Sandsea, so William had no choice but to take the fight to them, hoping to catch them in a trap.
