As one of the top factions on Gods Continent, Dawn City's massive war machine was running at full capacity. Other than this city, William had practically abandoned every other city, including Beast-Taming City, Eastsea City, and the rest.
He had deployed every soldier he could muster within Dawn City.
Even so,

Dawn City now had a total population of ninety-seven million.
Its Regular Army Legions numbered 7.8 million troops.
The Dawn Mercenary Group had 3.3 million NPC mercenaries, while the Player population had recently reached 11.3 million—the absolute limit of what Dawn City could support.
In this defensive battle,

Yet the Elves, inheritors of so much of the Second Era's legacy, had never been a race anyone dared underestimate.
If they launched a war of extermination,
the Elves could still mobilize every last citizen. Cut one of them down, and they would still tear a chunk of flesh from their enemy.
In this struggle over the World Tree,
William could not determine how many troops the Elves would commit.
But clearly, it would be neither too many nor too few.
If they sent too many,
