Preparations Before the Battle

Watching Gwen and Harry start offering Peter advice on the phone screen, Lin Hai could not help but smile warmly.

He turned off the phone screen. Now he needed to help his master prepare lunch in the kitchen. As for the lively chat in the group, it would not be too late to check it after lunch.

When he entered the kitchen, Chen Bing was washing several bright green scallions at the sink. Thawed ribs and some vegetables were already laid out on the counter. Lin Hai tied on an apron, walked over to his master, and took over the task of washing the vegetables.

"Master." Lin Hai deftly picked through the greens. "I'm planning to go out this afternoon with Gwen and Peter. I might be back rather late."

Chen Bing did not stop what he was doing. He merely turned his head to glance at Lin Hai, his gaze as calm as still water. He hummed to show that he was listening.

Lin Hai continued, "You don't need to worry about me. The target of this operation is somewhat troublesome, but with our current strength, it won't be particularly dangerous to handle."

Chen Bing fell silent for several seconds after hearing that. Clear water rushed from the faucet, washing dirt from the white stalks of the scallions. He turned off the tap, shook the droplets from his hands, then picked up the kitchen knife and began chopping scallions with steady taps.

"Mm, I understand." Chen Bing's voice was calm. "Pay attention to your own safety. Always leave yourself some room to maneuver, and don't overestimate yourself. Also, protect your companions."

He did not ask where Lin Hai was going or what he intended to do.
