Good News from Kingpin

Gwen, who had caught sight of Lin Hai waking up from the corner of her eye, immediately closed the book in her hands and set it on the small table beside her. Then she quickly got up, came to sit by the bed, and took Lin Hai's hand.

"Lin Hai, you're awake?" Her voice was thick with concern as she carefully studied his complexion. "How do you feel? Is anything still hurting?"

Lin Hai did not answer right away. His eyes remained fixed on Gwen without blinking.

At that moment, Gwen was bathed in the fading glow of the sunset. Her soft blonde hair was outlined by a dazzling halo of light, and her fair skin seemed to glow. For a moment, he felt as though he were looking at a goddess radiating golden light.

He stared at her, completely absorbed, and for a moment, he was utterly spellbound.

Seeing that he was only staring at her without answering, Gwen could not help waving a hand in front of his eyes. "Lin Hai? Hello? Why aren't you saying anything? Did you go mute~?"

Only then did Lin Hai snap out of it. He checked his condition. Though he still felt somewhat mentally exhausted, it was far better than the weakness he had felt before.

In a voice that was not loud but clearly much stronger, he said, "All right, all right, stop waving. I'm much better now."

He paused, his gaze still resting on Gwen's radiant face, and sincerely praised her, "Gwen, you're beautiful~"

Caught off guard by Lin Hai suddenly saying something like that when he had just recovered, even the usually cheerful and open Gwen did not know how to respond.
