After dinner, Harry and Peter cleared the dishes. They carried the empty plates and bowls into the kitchen, turned on the tap, and started washing up.
In the living room, Lin Hai and Gwen sat on the sofa, planning what to do next.
"We'll probably be in New Mexico for a while," Lin Hai said. "But we don't have to stay there overnight."
Gwen nodded. "The Portal makes it easy to go back and forth. We don't even need to pack; we can come home to sleep. Should I wear my mage robe or bring it along?"
Lin Hai shook his head. "Neither. Same goes for Harry's armor. If we need them, we'll have time to come back and change."
Gwen glanced toward the kitchen. "What about Peter's suit?"
Lin Hai thought for a moment. "His Spider-Suit fits in a backpack, and it's easy to put on and take off. Let him decide whether to bring it."
Peter and Harry finished cleaning up, dried their hands, and returned to the living room.
Lin Hai repeated what he and Gwen had discussed: they wouldn't stay overnight, they didn't need to pack, they could come back for their gear anytime, and Peter could do as he liked with his suit.
Peter's eyes lit up. "So we're going to a little town on the edge of the desert, and there probably won't be much fighting?"
