Gwen came after Peter and Harry.
Gwen held the staff in her hand as golden magic flowed from her palm, slowly pouring into the runic patterns on its surface. The runes lit up one after another, spreading from one end of the staff to the other.
The next instant, the staff gave off a faint platinum glow that spread from Gwen's hand along her entire body. Wherever the light passed, pieces of silver-white armor appeared from thin air, layering over her body.
A thousand fine silver scales interlocked, each no larger than a fingernail and gleaming with a soft metallic luster. Beneath the scale armor was a thin layer of flexible chainmail, providing ample protection without hindering any of Gwen's movements.
Gold trim was the only embellishment on the light armor. Flowing golden lines traced the collar, the edges of the breastplate, and the waist.
At the center of her chest was a simple golden emblem of a phoenix with spread wings. Its wings stretched to either side, while its tail feathers draped downward and blended into the scrolling vine patterns below.
Those vine patterns extended along the shoulder lines, lending the originally cold, hard armor a touch of holiness and elegance.
The light armor covered only her shoulders and arms with silver scales rather than sealing her entire body in airtight protection, leaving her arms completely unrestricted. The protection on her legs and feet continued the same style as the upper armor, with silver scales as the base and gold-trimmed edges.
Gwen looked down at the protection covering her body, arms, legs, and feet, her face filled with astonished delight.
Not just Gwen—even Lin Hai, Peter, and Harry, who were looking at her, were thoroughly surprised.
After all, Gwen had never specified a fixed style for her armor. The
