Tony had plenty more to say and plenty of questions to ask. But something had already emerged from the dark blue portal overhead.
It was a strangely shaped aircraft, dark gray from end to end, with a pointed nose, a broad rear, and two thick thruster nozzles underneath. A dark blue flame trailed behind it.
It looked a little like a jet ski, every part of it cold, hard metal. A Chitauri Soldier sat in the pilot's seat, clad in dark light armor. A breathing mask covered its face, leaving only a pair of pupil-less gray-white eyes exposed.
The time for talk was over. Tony's helmet rose from the suit around his neck. The faceplate dropped into place, and its glowing eyes lit up. Twin jets of blazing red flame burst from beneath his feet, sending him skyward to meet the Chitauri Flyer.
Thor followed close behind. Mjolnir spun faster and faster as he rose into the air, blue-white electricity crackling around the hammer. He headed straight for the portal.
Peter was next into the sky. He didn't strictly need to fly, but his suit had been given flight capabilities to handle a wider range of situations.
Harry took off last. Pale blue flames burst from the thrusters beneath his feet and on his back as he flew toward the Chitauri now pouring out in numbers. He adjusted his posture midair and spread his arms slightly. The energy cannons in his palms began to warm up with a low hum.
Unlike Tony, a battle-hardened veteran in an armed suit, Peter had equipped his own suit with no lethal weapons. He couldn't kill nearly as quickly or as many as Tony.
That was right: Peter, who never killed, was going all out this time. But aliens weren't human. Besides, the Chitauri
