Background

Li Daotian is a reincarnated inhabitant of Douluo Continent who retains memories of his former life on Blue Planet. His unusual childhood intelligence caused villagers in his original home to treat him as a monster; he was bound, placed in a wooden basin, and cast into a stream. Village Chief Jack rescued and raised him in Holy Spirit Village. 1

On the eve of Holy Spirit Village’s Spirit Hall assessment, Li’s Divine Thief System activated. He immediately tested it on Tang San, stealing Tang San’s protagonist fortune and gaining the destiny, opportunities, twin Martial Souls, and Innate Full Soul Power associated with it. Tang San’s fate was instead changed into one of hardship. 1

Li’s Black Dragon Martial Soul and Innate Full Soul Power secured his admission to Notting City Junior Spirit Master Academy. After Yu Xiaogang attempted to force him into a master-disciple relationship, Li stole Yu’s loyalty and made him an obedient servant. 2 5 6

Li Daotian is initially a small village child dressed in plain, worn clothing. After acquiring money from the Dragon Restaurant manager, he obtains new clothes and shoes for academy life. 4

Personality

Li is ambitious, opportunistic, and intensely unwilling to accept a powerless life. He views exceptional talent, fate, techniques, bloodlines, wealth, and loyalty as resources that can be taken through the Divine Thief System. His decision to steal Tang San’s protagonist fortune before even awakening a Martial Soul establishes his willingness to damage another person’s future for his own advancement. 1

He is also politically cautious. Li delays answering Spirit Hall’s recruitment offer, refuses Yu Xiaogang’s attempt to claim him as a disciple, and conceals the real source of many of his gains. 2 5 16

Despite his ruthlessness, he shows genuine concern for people he considers his own. He worries about Village Chief Jack’s limited money, brings Jack gifts after returning from the academy, and refuses to steal Xiao Wu’s Spirit Bone because doing so would kill her. He later keeps Xiao Wu away from Holy Spirit Village because he fears Tang Hao could discover and kill her. 4 9 18 19
