Background / History
Yu Xiaogang arrives at Notting City Junior Spirit Master Academy’s gate after hearing Li Daotian dismiss him as “all empty talk.” Learning that Li possesses Innate Full Soul Power and a Black Dragon Martial Soul, he becomes eager to take him as a disciple and personally inspects his Spirit Hall certificate. Li rejects him, saying Yu may lead him astray. Humiliated, Yu blocks Li’s way and insists that he must accept him as a teacher. 5
Li instead uses the Divine Thief System to steal Yu Xiaogang’s loyalty. Yu immediately kneels, recognizes Li as his master, and thereafter addresses him publicly as “Young Master.” He handles Li’s enrollment, obtains a private dormitory and daily supplies, and accepts orders to acquire cultivation resources. 6
Yu obtains three-thousand-year and later ten-thousand-year Whale Gum for Li, monitors the effects of the medicine, and provides him with a twenty-four-gem storage Soul Tool that Li names Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moon Night. He also researches possible Soul Ring options for Li’s Black Dragon Martial Soul. 7 12 15
During the Soul Hunting Forest expedition, Yu guides Li and Principal Su toward Forest Flood Dragon territory, attempts to protect Li from the beast, and attacks with Luosampao after the dragon has been secretly weakened. He directs Li to personally kill the Forest Flood Dragon to obtain its Soul Ring and witnesses the emergence of Li’s first Soul Skill. 16 17
Afterward, Yu continues serving as Li’s adviser and protector at Notting College. He intervenes against Teacher Xiao’s attempted punishment of Li, gives Li the Overbearing Spear martial-skill manual, and supports the academy during its exchange with Luotian City Junior Spirit Master Academy. 11 25 29
