Li Qinwu was frantic. He was not afraid of dying since he would respawn at the hideout anyway, but he was afraid he wouldn't be able to bring the PDF Standard Automatic Rifle back.
The sound of footsteps from both sides grew closer and closer, and Li Qinwu jumped around like a cat on a hot tin roof.
Suddenly, he saw the large crater blasted out by the artillery shell, along with the flesh and blood inside it.
A flash of inspiration struck his mind. He jumped straight into the crater and lay down, borrowing an arm from the buddy on his left to dangle across his chest, while pulling a handful of intestines from the buddy on his right and placing them on his stomach.
Then, he smeared blood and filth across his face, tilted his head, stuck out his tongue, and completely blended in with the corpses.
No sooner had he hidden himself than both sides reached the edge of the trench simultaneously, and then spotted each other all at once.
Without a moment's hesitation, they raised their guns and opened fire the second they met!
The PDF squad leader in particular wielded a Lasgun, which was somewhat rare among the PDF. A single laser blasted a fist-sized hole through the chest of the foremost rebel, scorching the organs inside the rebel's chest cavity and killing him instantly!
Only the squad leader was equipped with a Lasgun, however. The other PDF squad members used Autoguns firing live rounds, which weren't nearly as piercing and could be blocked by the rebels' homemade organic armor.
On the rebel side, they were equipped with Autoguns, bolt-action rifles, shotguns, and all sorts of messy weapons. Though inferior to the PDF equipment, they had the advantage in numbers.
Following a flurry of crossfire between the two sides, screams and gunfire rang out endlessly, while Li Qinwu lay motionlessly in the middle of the pile of corpses.
Fifteen minutes later, accompanied by the explosion of a grenade, the battlefield fell silent.
Li Qinwu waited another five minutes, and after confirming there were no sounds at all, he felt a surge of joy. Could they have wiped each other out?
He opened his eyes and cautiously surveyed his surroundings. The trench was filled with corpses; the gray bodies of rebels and the bodies of PDF soldiers in green helmet armor lay scattered everywhere.
"Tra-la-la, little tune~~"
Li Qinwu let out a woohoo, brushed away the pieces of flesh and gore on top of him, and began looting the battlefield.
Ignoring the rebels entirely, he pounced on the corpse of a PDF soldier and picked up a helmet to put on.
Name: PDF Ballistic Helmet Reference Value: 500 Fertilizer Vouchers Ballistic Level: 3 Ricochet Probability: Medium Durability: 30/30 Material: Ceramite Weight: 2.2 kg
Then he stripped off a relatively intact piece of armor and put it on.
Name: PDF Light Ballistic Armor Reference Value: 1500 Fertilizer Vouchers Ballistic Level: 3 Durability: 45/50 Material: Ceramite Weight: 6.2 kg
Next, he picked up a PDF soldier's Autogun.

A single standard automatic rifle was worth 3500 bucks. Overjoyed, Li Qinwu discarded all the other miscellaneous junk on his body and went to collect standard automatic rifles.
One, two, three, four. Li Qinwu hung four rifles around his neck, the twenty-odd kilograms of weight making his breathing somewhat heavy.
Yet he could still carry more! Crawling to the extraction point was simply an essential part of loot-and-extract games!!
"Today is a good day, such a good day~"
Li Qinwu pulled the fifth autogun from the arms of a PDF soldier with a blown-off head, hanging it across his chest, suddenly wondering if the PDF squad leader had a lasgun.
Though jokingly called a flashlight, that was only because Warhammer 40,000 had too many freaks and monsters; on an ordinary battlefield, this thing was insanely awesome.
A single power cell could fire 200 times, and the laser could blast a fist-sized hole in a human body while penetrating 20mm of steel plate—something heavy machine guns could only manage in the third millennium, yet here it was an infantry weapon!
Li Qinwu searched around, trying to find the body of the PDF squad leader. He had been in the Warhammer World for over three months and had never even touched a lasgun. By the way, what bullet level was the laser it fired considered? Level 4?
He looked around in a circle but couldn't see where the PDF squad leader had died. Just as he was wondering, he heard a rustling sound behind him. Turning his head, he locked eyes with a fierce pair of eyes.
"Ah! You're not dead!"
Li Qinwu looked at the blood-covered PDF squad leader leaning against the corner of the trench and the muzzle of the lasgun aimed right at him.
Fear spread in his heart, and he shouted inwardly: No! I don't want to drop my gear!
"Don't shoot! I'm not a rebel..."
He wanted to beg for mercy, but before he could finish speaking, the PDF squad leader fired.
The scorching laser slammed into Li Qinwu's chest. His chest grew hot and his mind went blank, thinking he was about to return to the warehouse to redeploy.
Yet he did not lose consciousness, nor did he feel any pain, and he could even smell a burning stench.
Looking down, it turned out that the laser had blown apart the five guns on his chest, consuming a massive amount of energy, while the remaining energy struck the armor he had just stripped from a corpse and was blocked.
"What the fuck!!"
In a rage, Li Qinwu rushed forward and kicked the PDF squad leader squarely in the chest, knocking him flat, then stomped down on the hand holding the lasgun, wringing a scream from him.
The PDF squad leader had already been hit by bullets during the earlier battle and was at the end of his tether; he simply couldn't handle Li Qinwu closing in and was subjected to a flurry of beating.
Li Qinwu pulled the bayonet from the man's waist, and after confirming he posed no threat, he pounced to take the lasgun and sling it on his back. Then, pressing the dagger against the PDF squad leader's neck, he prepared to kill him.
Why not use the lasgun to kill him?
Because Li Qinwu wasn't sure if there was a gene lock on the lasgun. The technological level of every planet in the Imperium varied, and so did the tech level of the lasguns they manufactured.
On some planets, you could pick up a lasgun and use it immediately, while others equipped them with high-tech gadgets like gene locks, allowing only the master of the gun to use it.
Just as Li Qinwu was about to kill this fellow with a knife and head to the extraction point, the Search-Shoot-Extract System in his head suddenly chimed.
