The Cursed Founding was an Astartes force-building campaign undertaken by the Imperium.
The purpose of this founding was to increase the number of Astartes Chapters and ease the Imperium's national defense burden.
But during the founding, a few assholes thought they were hot shit and could alter the garbage code left behind by the Emperor.
So they tweaked this and changed that, creating Astartes with an absurd number of genetic defects.
Some Astartes had Chaos corruption levels that exceeded the limit and directly betrayed the Imperium, throwing themselves into the arms of Chaos.
Others were brutally violent by nature and enjoyed slaughtering people indiscriminately. They were dealt with later as well.
In short, the Cursed Founding was a major mistake. A project as enormous as the Cursed Founding could never have been accomplished by just one or two parties. It absolutely required the full participation of every Imperial department to push forward!
When the project blew up in their faces, every Imperial department looked utterly miserable.
This amounted to a major political blunder. Everyone wanted to conceal the truth of the Cursed Founding and hide their political mistake.
So when the cardinal heard that Li Qinwu had come to ask him to ring the bell for the Broken-winged Angels Chapter from the era of the Cursed Founding, his expression changed at once.
The Cursed Founding was an error that every Imperial department had tried desperately to bury. If the cardinal rang the bell for a Chapter born of the Cursed Founding, it would be the same as admitting that this mistake existed and slapping everyone who had made that mistake in the face!
"Enough, enough. You should leave first. I have work to do!"
