Wraithbone was essentially a Psychic Power material. Bonesingers summoned it from the Warp and shaped it into usable tools.
Nearly all Eldar were Psykers. Even the non-psychic ones among them would consciously or unconsciously infuse Psychic Power into Wraithbone while using it to make tools. That Psychic Power was the energy source for Wraithbone items.
Advanced Wraithbone items, such as Power Swords and Power Armor, possessed exquisite internal designs and were crafted by master Bonesingers. As a result, they could remain intact for long periods even without being infused with Psychic Power for centuries.
But Wraithbone Armour simply pressed out by industrial equipment for Eldar militia to use in emergencies was a disposable product.
It was probably meant for situations where enemies had invaded an Eldar Craftworld, leaving them on the brink of annihilation and forcing civilians onto the battlefield. They had to be armed as quickly as possible.
After the battle, these crude temporary Wraithbone Armour pieces produced in factories would either become irrelevant because the Eldar had been exterminated, or, if they won, civilians would return to normal life and no longer need them. The armor would then naturally degrade.
If left alone, the temporary armor used by Eldar militia would naturally degrade within three to six months.
To maintain its existence, its wearer had to be a Psyker.
When worn by a Psyker, the armor absorbed a small amount of the Psychic Power within them to sustain the Wraithbone's existence in Realspace.
