Background

Motian Xing was once the Sect Master of the Blood Demon Sect, a Demon Sect master whose name shook the world. During the era of the ancient unified empire, he rampaged across the continent before being sealed beneath what later became the Azure Moon Sect. 198 202 205

The Azure Moon Sect’s seal was already failing and would have broken within roughly a century. Su Yueli’s battle with Cangming damaged the situation around the sect ruins and allowed Motian Xing to escape about a century earlier than expected. 203 205

After escaping, Motian Xing approached the crippled Shen Huai’an. He offered to restore Shen’s Heavenly Bone, cultivation, and ability to avenge the destruction of the Azure Moon Sect, then ultimately seized Shen’s body when Shen could not resist his overwhelmingly stronger soul. 198 203

Motian Xing primarily appears through Shen Huai’an’s possessed body rather than an independent physical form.

Even while severely weakened, he prioritizes recovery, concealment, and escape over prideful confrontation; when cornered by Su Yueli, he repeatedly sacrifices Shen Huai’an’s lifeblood, Heavenly Bone origin, and fragments of his own power to survive. 212 214
