Background / History

The Azure Cloud Sect was one of Great Li’s long-standing immortal-cultivation powers, occupying Azure Cloud Mountain and maintaining deep reserves of senior cultivators and ancient protections. Its public leadership appeared to be around the Eighth or Ninth Realm, while its forbidden grounds concealed patriarchs and old monsters of far greater cultivation 117.

The sect’s conduct toward mortals became the source of Su Yueli’s vendetta. An Azure Cloud Sect cultivator sold Shen Qing’an an ordinary piece of fluorite as a supposed jade slip capable of granting Su Yueli an Acquired Spirit Root. Shen spent his fortune on the fraud, was left crippled and impoverished, and died believing he had secured her path to immortality 9. A captured sect disciple later identified Jiang Ran—personal disciple of the First Elder—as the likely swindler 82.

Lu Feiyu, the sect’s Young Sect Master, was responsible for the massacre of Su Yueli’s home village and the murder of her parents. Though his rise was publicly celebrated as the result of a great opportunity, cultivators acknowledged that he had forcibly taken the opportunity after slaughtering the village’s inhabitants 124.

Organization and Assets

• Azure Cloud Mountain — The sect’s mountain domain once contained extensive spirit peaks, grand halls, and a large surrounding territory. Its lands and infrastructure were drastically reduced after the Azure Cloud Calamity 124 138.
• Heaven-Origin Mountain-Suppressing Formation — Ancient mountain-protecting formation strengthened over many generations with heavenly treasures and Spirit Stones. It was powerful enough to threaten high-level cultivators, but Su Yueli tore through its barrier and destroyed its formation nodes with her bare hands 125 126.
• Mountain-River Immortal Suppression Seal — The sect’s supreme treasure, deployed by Lu Cangtian as a mountain-like divine weapon against Su Yueli 129 130.
• Immortal Mirror — An artifact used by the old ancestor during the Azure Cloud Calamity. It was cracked in the battle 138.
• Azure Sun Sword — Zhao Chengfeng’s natal divine weapon. Su Yueli shattered it by hand during the sect’s centennial ceremony 127 128.

Conflict with Su Yueli

Fraud of Shen Qing’an

Shen Qing’an purchased the purported “immortal jade slip” from an Azure Cloud Sect cultivator after spending ten years and exhausting his family’s wealth. The object was worthless fluorite; it could not grant Su Yueli a Spirit Root or enable cultivation. Shen’s resulting poverty, broken legs, and death became one of the foundations of her hatred for the sect 9.

Su Yueli later confirmed through interrogation that Jiang Ran had cheated a mortal in Fengling City out of silver and family heirlooms using the same false promise of an Acquired Spirit Root 82.

Auction House Feud

At the Myriad Treasures Trading House auction, the Azure Cloud Sect sought the True Spirit Dharma Image Jade Fragment for its Grand Elder’s breakthrough. Elder Han attempted to invoke the sect’s reputation to pressure the unknown bidder in VIP Room Eight, but Su Yueli refused to yield 71.

The sect lost the fragment when Su Yueli bid 1,400 Superior Spirit Stones, exceeding its available funds. Its elders subsequently planned to ambush the winner outside Heavenly Abyss City 71.

Pursuit and Retaliation

The sect pursued Su Yueli after she killed an outer disciple who had searched her caravan. Elder Han organized search parties after determining that the killer was an exceptionally dangerous martial artist rather than a conventional cultivator 78.

Elder Han personally cornered Su Yueli with four disciples and a containment formation. Although her physical attack penetrated his spiritual defenses, his Seventh Realm Immortal Dao cultivation overwhelmed her; she escaped only by using the lifespan-burning Ultimate Dao Fifth Form: Life Burning and entering a secret realm 80.

Su Yueli later killed Jiang Ran, settling Shen Qing’an’s personal grievance. The sect found Jiang Ran’s corpse with his limbs shattered, head crushed, and Fifth Realm defensive treasure destroyed, but investigators could find no spiritual residue from his killer 99.

Azure Cloud Calamity

Su Yueli returned to Azure Cloud Mountain during Lu Feiyu’s advancement ceremony wearing the white carved mask associated with the “Masked God of Slaughter.” Her assault was intended to avenge her parents, Shen Qing’an, and the mortal victims of the sect’s crimes 124 125.

Decline and Final Settlement

More than a century after the Azure Cloud Calamity, Azure Cloud Sect had lost much of its territory, its formation was weak, its main peak had been crudely rebuilt, and it was regarded as no more than a second-rate sect 138.

Su Yueli returned to settle her final karmic debt with the old ancestor. She deliberately spared uninvolved low-level disciples and made clear that she sought only those responsible for the old crimes 138 139.

The dying ancestor acknowledged that he had protected Lu Feiyu for the sect’s prestige. Su Yueli gave him one day to commit suicide, agreeing to conceal his death so the sect’s remaining members could retain the deterrence of his reputation. His life force vanished the following day, ending her vendetta against the Azure Cloud Sect 140.
