"You mean... everyone?"
Ace asked with an odd expression.
According to Ryan, this would not count as betraying the Whitebeard Pirates. But turning pirates like them into government officials overnight—setting aside whether they would agree to it—the very idea felt deeply strange.
"That's right. You have to believe me, an opportunity like this comes only once."
Ryan nodded as he looked at Ace.
Theoretically, this had nothing to do with him. No matter what the Whitebeard Pirates chose, it would not affect him.
But the two sides had crossed paths before, and he had a favorable impression of the Whitebeard Pirates. He still wanted to avoid ending up on opposing sides with them if possible.
Putting in a little effort for that was nothing.
Of course, kind words could not save someone determined to die. If the Whitebeard Pirates stubbornly refused to let go of their pirate identities, he would not waste any more effort on them.
He had already done what he should. The rest was not his concern.
Seeing Ace's conflicted expression, Ryan took out a communicator and tossed it over. "I've said everything I needed to say. I'm sure you know what the final outcome of being a pirate is, and you should understand just how rare this opportunity is."
"According to my agreement with the Revolutionary Army, we won't interfere in matters concerning positions within the new government. So, if you want to negotiate, you'll need to speak with the Revolutionary Army yourselves. All I can do is lean slightly in your favor during these negotiations."
Seeing that Ace still could not make up his mind, he continued, "If you really can't decide, talk to Whitebeard. He hasn't made a decision yet, but I believe that, if only for your sakes, he'll agree to my proposal."
