"What do you think we should do with these exploited Marine families?"
The three of them walked across the broad stone floor. Sakazuki watched the soldiers training all around them and asked the question.
This matter had to be dealt with, but they could not be overly harsh either. Otherwise, it would easily stir up a wave of resentment among the soldiers.
At such a critical point in the war, they absolutely could not allow that to happen.
Yet, because he was used to being forceful, he was extremely poor at handling matters like this. Whenever he took action, he tended to go too far, perhaps even costing people their lives. Now, he did not know where to begin.
"Leave it to me. I'll handle this. You focus on dealing with the war on the front lines."
Tsuru sighed as she spoke.
Sakazuki nodded, then turned around. With a trace of gratitude in his voice, he said, "Then I'll leave it to you, Granny Tsuru!"
"It's all for the Marines."
She shook her head, but inwardly, she was troubled.
The war had only just begun, yet the enemy had already caused such a major incident on their side. Meanwhile, the Marines had barely achieved anything worth showing. She could not help worrying.
Sakazuki nodded slightly without saying more. After bidding them farewell, he headed toward his office.
With the outbreak of war, the number of matters he had to handle every day had become countless.
Of course, none of this was what he wanted. As the hawkish leader of the Marines who believed in Absolute Justice, and the current head of the Marines, leading troops into battle and wiping out every enemy was what he truly wanted to do.
But not yet. Neither side's strongest fighters had made a move.
