Spring gave way to autumn, and Wharton had already studied at O'Brien Warrior Academy for half a year.
Besides his warrior classes, Wharton attended lightning, fire, and water magic courses every day, hardly ever missing a lesson. He was living like an ascetic cultivator. O'Brien Empire's academy truly deserved its reputation as the continent's foremost warrior academy. Its curriculum was exceptionally well designed and its instruction comprehensive, covering everything from battle-qi cultivation to the application of techniques in a systematic manner. Wharton benefited greatly.
Although cultivating both battle qi and magic slowed his progress, Wharton felt no regret. On the contrary, he continued down this path with unwavering resolve, building an exceptionally solid foundation.
Wharton's diligence influenced the others as well. Seeing how desperately Wharton trained spurred the dormitory's enthusiasm, and the results were obvious. Bulen and Kate broke through to Level Two Warrior, Kane reached Level Three Warrior, and Wharton also advanced to Level Three Warrior.
That day, the sun shone brightly.
The four residents of Dorm 2008 made a rare visit to a restaurant beside the academy. Perhaps because they had spent so much time training diligently and paid little attention to academy life, they were unfamiliar with many places beyond the few they frequented.
Wharton, Kane, and Kate wore pale blue warrior uniforms issued by the academy. They were required to wear them during classes. The clothes were of excellent quality and very comfortable. As Ultimate Warriors, they were all rather tall and carried distinctive temperaments that drew countless glances. Wharton's long black hair was especially eye-catching. Most people on Yulan Mainland had hair in all sorts of colors, so black hair like Wharton's was relatively rare. Combined with their handsome faces, they utterly enchanted many of the girls nearby.
Although students could normally wear their own clothes, they had grown accustomed to academy uniforms. Many academy students wore different outfits, but someone like Bulen, dressed in a dazzling golden robe, was still quite rare.
"Hey, look at those four. Why haven't I seen them before? They're so handsome!" several passing girls asked.
"Such fangirls! But they really are quite handsome," a nearby girl said.
However, the four were completely unaffected by the attention. They looked as though they had not eaten in days, each wildly tearing into the unidentified roasted magical beast meat in his hands.
"Ah, this is amazing! I haven't had such a lavish dinner in a full half year!" Kate cried while eating.
"Exactly! Boss and Third Brother are like they've gone mad, dragging us into suffering with them."
Bulen immediately chimed in with a complaint.
"You still have the nerve to say that? If you had trained harder, you would have already broken through to Level Three Warrior," Kane said.
"That's right. We should seize every moment to train so we can graduate sooner and go out adventuring sooner. Do you want to spend the full sixty years at this academy?" Wharton said in an extremely serious tone.
"All right, you two, stop talking. We'll work hard, okay?" Bulen hurriedly said.
"Having you two as roommates is truly unfortunate," he added with a long sigh.
"Hahaha!"
Seeing Bulen's expression, the brothers exchanged glances and burst into laughter.
"By the way, Wharton, now that your magic has broken through to Level Two and you've reached Level Three Warrior, are you planning to participate in this year's academy competition?" Kane asked, changing the subject.
As the eldest of Dorm 2008, he took good care of his three brothers and was comparatively steady. Kate and Bulen, who had been looking around at beautiful girls, also turned to look at Wharton.
"No," Wharton said decisively.
"Third Brother, why not? If you compete, first place will definitely be yours," Kate shouted from the side.
"That's right, Wharton. You train so hard, yet you won't enter the academy competition. Then why do you train so hard?" Bulen asked, his face full of confusion.
The three of them stared at Wharton.
"I don't cultivate for such petty vanity. I cultivate to become strong. My goal has never been O'Brien Warrior Academy. I hope you won't limit yourselves to O'Brien Warrior Academy either. Our goal is Yulan Mainland, and even other planes beyond Yulan Mainland," Wharton said firmly.
After dinner, only Kane and Wharton returned to cultivate. Kate and Bulen were going to attend a social gathering held by the academy. They said they would go before ending their talk, and Wharton and Kane could do nothing about it but let them go.
