"Yes, yes... let's leave this place first."
Kane's father also said, "Right, everyone, hurry and get ready. Just take the valuables. The Church's people might be here soon."
The women began packing, and Kate and Kane went to help. Soon, only Wharton and Kane's father remained in the Ancestral Hall.
"You're from the Dragonblood Warrior Clan, aren't you, child? Thank you for saving our lives. If it weren't for you, our Tiger-Striped Clan would have been wiped out. Even in death, I would have had no face to meet the ancestors of the Tiger-Striped Warrior Clan!" Kane's father said gratefully to Wharton.
"I am Jason Bolei, the current clan leader of the Bole clan. This is my younger brother, Gibbs Bolei." As he spoke, he bowed slightly to Wharton.
Wharton hurriedly helped Jason up. "Uncle Jason, Kane, Kate, and I are brothers. Besides, we are all descendants of the Ultimate Warrior Clan, so we should help one another. Let's leave this place first and talk later."
Inside the Bole clan's Ancestral Hall, everyone had finished packing and was preparing to leave. Wharton noticed Bolei Jason staring at the stone tablets recording the clan's history and immediately understood his thoughts. He could not bear to part with those things that recorded the clan's glory.
"Uncle Jason, leave it to me." Wharton stepped forward and swept his hand, storing all the stone tablets in his spatial ring.
"A spatial ring..." Jason stared in shock at the spatial ring on Wharton's right hand.
Wharton and Kane's clans left the Dark Holy City overnight. To avoid pursuit by the Dark Church, they chose a route that bypassed the Dark Holy City, traveling several hundred extra kilometers. It took them a full month to reach Klais City, at the northernmost edge of the Rohault Empire.
Dark Church
"A bunch of trash! You can't even handle such a trivial matter. What use is there in keeping you?" Afleck—the Pope of the Dark Church—roared at the Dark Church bishops before him.
Faced with the Pope's furious rebuke, they were so frightened that they collapsed to the ground, trembling all over. "Your Holiness, we don't know who saved the Jason Bolei brothers. When we arrived, we only saw the corpses of Church members."
"Hmph... make sure you bring those two level-seven bodies back to me. Get out. If you fail, don't bother coming back." Afleck spoke coldly.
"Yes, Your Majesty." With that, they withdrew from the hall.
Who had saved them? Could it have been the Bright Church? Afleck closed his eyes once more.
"Based on their description, they should have been a Tiger-Striped Warrior and a Dragonblood Warrior. I just didn't expect that, after a thousand years, Tiger-Striped Warriors and Dragonblood Warriors still existed on the continent—and that they would reappear in such a manner." An elderly man dressed in plain black cloth spoke calmly from within the hall.
He looked as though he was on the verge of death, but anyone who truly thought so would have been gravely mistaken. The old man was a Saint Domain elder of the Dark Church, whose strength was no less than the Pope's.
The group did not stop throughout the journey. Aside from Wharton, everyone else was exhausted. Since they had left the Dark Church's sphere of influence, and seeing the expressions on everyone's faces, they decided to rest in the Rohault Empire for a while before continuing on their journey.
Half a month later, Jason Bolei and Gibbs Bolei's injuries had fully healed. After half a month of recuperation, everyone had recovered greatly in both body and mind, and their complexions looked much better.
Within the Rohault Empire, even the Dark Church did not dare act recklessly. Of the continent's four great empires, aside from the Yulan Mainland and the O'Brien Empire, the other two empires might not have God Level experts, but they had no fewer Saint Domain experts than the two great Churches. Moreover, their attitude toward the Churches was far from friendly. After all, if a nation believed in the Bright Church, it would easily shake the foundations of the empire. Thus, their strength was even greater than the Churches'. Otherwise, they would have had no way to control such powerful empires. Among them, the strongest could be considered second only to the Saint Domain Limit, with one foot already stepping into that realm.
"Wharton, I truly have to thank you this time. If it weren't for you, our Bole clan would have been in great danger." Inside a luxurious hotel in Klais City, Jason said gratefully to Wharton.
"Please don't say that, Uncle Jason. How did you end up crossing paths with the Dark Church?" Wharton hurriedly declined Jason's thanks.
"We're family, and given my relationship with Kane and the others, you're an elder to me as well. You really shouldn't treat me like this."
"But haven't you always lived in the Dark Alliance? Why did the Dark Church suddenly make a move against you?" Wharton asked. Though he had already roughly guessed the reason, he still wanted to confirm it once more.
