After all, the Bole clan had lived in Dark Holy City for so many years. The Dark Church would not have come knocking without reason, much less sent a Level Nine Warrior to lead a force against two warriors whose bodies had only reached Level Seven.
"Alas, I had actually felt years ago that the Dark Church was going to move against us. Their people had been watching our estate for years. Though I didn't know why, they never acted, so I did everything I could to send Kane and his brother to the O'Brien Empire. It was not until Gibbs broke through to Level Seven. Although we could have kept that information hidden, the Dark Church's spies still learned of it. Though disciples of our Ultimate Warrior Clan find it difficult to awaken their bloodlines and cannot cultivate other battle qi, we have a tremendous advantage over ordinary people when it comes to training our bodies. As long as we persist, our bodies can still break past their limits and reach the level of a Level Seven Warrior."
"I never expected the Dark Church to suddenly come to our door a few days ago. At first, they said Gibbs and I were to accompany them to the Dark Church to receive rewards. We immediately sensed that something was wrong and kept making excuses to delay them, intending to send Gibbs's son and daughter away first and see what they wanted. But the news still leaked. Their response was simply too fast—they directly surrounded my estate. What happened afterward was what you saw." Jason spoke sorrowfully.
"Back when I was serving in the army, I learned by chance that both the Dark Church and the Bright Church had been continuously gathering warriors with powerful bodies, though I never knew what they were doing with them. I kept my guard up after that and did not announce my breakthrough. I was only exposed once when I encountered bandits, but they still got hold of the information."
"Perhaps I know why they are doing this." After pretending to ponder for a moment, Wharton spoke.
"I once read some books about the churches in the O'Brien Empire. The churches have a type of creature known as Fallen Angels. They are not native to the Yulan Mainland, but descend from the Supreme Plane through special methods employed by the High God they worship. The strongest among them can have eighteen wings. However, the conditions for these angels to descend into a Material Plane are extremely harsh. They need powerful bodies capable of bearing their immense strength. Most of the church's angels are now two-winged or four-winged, corresponding to Level Nine Warriors and Saint Domain warriors on the continent. Perhaps that is why they targeted you. Furthermore, they do not merely gather warriors with powerful bodies; they also collect people with pure souls for sacrifice. My mother was murdered by the Bright Church because her soul was pure. They offered her soul to the Bright High God." Wharton said.
"So I believe that is the reason. Once a body reaches Level Seven, it can at the very least allow an angel at the middle stage of the Saint Domain to descend. That is why they waited until Uncle Gibbs broke through before acting. That way, they could gain two Saint Domain angels at once," Wharton said again.
"Moreover, among our four intermediate warrior types, the strongest bodies do not belong to Dragonblood Warriors or Tiger-Striped Warriors. As far as I know, even if members of the Undying Warrior clan cannot awaken their bloodlines and become Undying Warriors, merely training their bodies can still allow them to break through their physical limits. I recently investigated the past several hundred years and found that after disciples of our Ultimate Warrior Clan broke through to Level Seven physically, they all met with various accidents and died. Not even their corpses were found. This is likely the work of the two great churches as well." Wharton spoke coldly, already pronouncing the doom of both churches in his heart.
After hearing Wharton's explanation, the others finally understood and all felt that his analysis made a great deal of sense.
"Hmph, what a church. To think they have committed so many filthy deeds. I will make them pay the price!" Kane said furiously, slamming his fist onto the table.
"Then what should we do, Wharton?" Jason asked.
"Uncle Jason, let us make plans after we reach the O'Brien Empire. We came this time specifically to unite the four Ultimate Warrior clans." Wharton smiled at Jason.
"Alright, Wharton. No matter what you intend to do, I will support you unconditionally," Gibbs said boldly from the side.
"Gibbs is right. Our Tiger-Striped Warriors will definitely support you with all our strength," Jason added.
