Background

Minato is Jiraiya’s disciple and Nagato’s senior fellow disciple. He initially struggles to reconcile the attacks attributed to Pain with Jiraiya’s memory of Nagato as a compassionate student, but recognizes that the destruction of Amegakure and Nagato’s parents may have shaped his actions 75 87.

Minato confronts Human Path Mizuki during Pain’s assault on Konoha. He suspects Sasori’s involvement, marks Mizuki with Rasengan, and escapes the Human Path’s soul extraction through Flying Thunder God 22. When Mizuki self-destructs to protect Pain’s secrets, Minato’s effort to save his companion becomes personal resolve against the attackers 22.

He summons Great Toad Bunta to pursue Pain Rin and recover the stolen final volume of the Scroll of Seals. Although Bunta destroys the Yata Crow, Pain Rin escapes using Breakpoint Resumption with a fragment of the scroll 23 24.
