Background

Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village as the son of Tang Hao. Jiang Lin initially tried to befriend him, but Tang San showed no interest; they became near-strangers. When Tang San later passed Jiang Lin being beaten by Alto’s group, he watched without intervening and left 1.

He attended the village’s Martial Soul Awakening ceremony and awakened Blue Silver Grass. Although Su Yuntao dismissed it as useless, Tang San tested at Innate Full Soul Power. Jiang Lin alone sensed that Tang San also possessed the concealed Clear Sky Hammer, but chose not to expose him 6.

Old Jack arranged for Tang San and Jiang Lin to enroll at Notting Academy. Tang San joined Yu Xiaogang as a disciple after the latter verified his certificate and recognized the likelihood that he had Twin Martial Souls 8 9.

Tang San received Holy Soul Village's work-study student placement at Notting Academy and lived in Dormitory Seven. Xiao Xun entered the academy half a year after Jiang Lin's departure and later became Tang San's close companion 10 67.

Over the following six years, Tang San cultivated to the Two-Ring Soul Grandmaster realm. Yu Xiaogang's hints about the Clear Sky Hammer's extraordinary origins led him to suspect his father's true identity. During his journey to Suotuo City, he tested whether an expert was secretly following him and concluded that Tang Hao was protecting him 67.

Personality

Tang San is reserved, self-reliant, and accustomed to isolation. He does not seek Jiang Lin’s approval and initially treats him as a stranger despite traveling and enrolling with him 1 8.

He is fiercely protective of Yu Xiaogang’s reputation. Jiang Lin’s claim that Yu Xiaogang was too weak to teach him provoked Tang San into challenging Jiang Lin, even though he had not yet properly assessed the difference in their strength 9 10.

Despite being decisively defeated, Tang San remains proud and composed under pressure. With the King’s Power Sword at his throat, he refused to plead and attempted to reveal the Clear Sky Hammer as a final countermeasure. He later characterized the fight as a spar rather than admit defeat to Yu Xiaogang 10.

His pride also manifests as jealousy and resentment. After Xiao Wu rejected his bedding offer, he privately dismissed her importance and believed that becoming powerful would eventually allow him to obtain whatever he wanted. He later left the dormitory rather than continue watching her affectionate interaction with Jiang Lin 12 16.

Tang San is protective of Xiao Xun, shielding her from Jiang Lin and promising to keep her safe. However, his confidence in Tang Hao's hidden protection encourages him to attack Jiang Lin despite the overwhelming disparity in their cultivation 67 68.

His reunion with Tang Hao reveals a strong emotional attachment to his father. Tang San's eyes redden upon seeing him again after six years, and he responds with admiration when Tang Hao confirms his identity as Clear Sky Douluo 68.

Tang San initially feels inferior to Jiang Lin's extraordinary strength, but Tang Hao's explanation of the Giant God Clan allows him to attribute the disparity to bloodline rather than his own shortcomings. This interpretation turns his unwillingness into relief 69.

• One needle grazed Jiang Lin’s arm, but Tang San was forced back after Jiang Lin cut his cheek 10.
• Godly Zhuge Crossbow — Used against Jiang Lin in Suotuo City after Blue Silver Grass vines obstructed his vision. Tang San aimed the attack at Jiang Lin's neck 67.
• Poisoned projectiles — His crossbow bolts and silver needles carry a corrosive poison powerful enough to severely damage the hotel floor. Dai Mubai, despite being a Soul Elder, considers the weapons dangerous 68.
• Jiang Lin blocks the crossbow attack and reflects the silver needles with the King’s Power Sword, forcing Tang San to pull Xiao Xun back more than ten meters to avoid them 68.

Blue Silver Grass Soul Skills

• First Soul Skill: Entanglement — Causes numerous Blue Silver vines to emerge from the ground and bind an opponent's limbs. Tang San uses it against Zhao Wuji during Shrek Academy's entrance assessment 76.
• Seed-based restraint — Plants Blue Silver seeds on Zhao Wuji's body and makes them grow rapidly, encasing him in a large cocoon. Zhao Wuji subsequently tears through the restraint in his bear form 76.
• Visual obstruction — Uses Blue Silver Grass vines to interfere with Jiang Lin's sight before firing the Godly Zhuge Crossbow 67.

• Jiang Lin — Began as a distant fellow villager whom Tang San ignored during Alto’s assault on Jiang Lin. Their relationship deteriorated after Jiang Lin insulted Yu Xiaogang; Tang San challenged him and was defeated. Tang San later resented Jiang Lin’s growing closeness with Xiao Wu 1 10 16. Six years later, he warns Xiao Xun that Jiang Lin is ruthless and bloodthirsty, then attacks him with poisoned hidden weapons. Jiang Lin nearly kills him before Tang Hao intervenes 67 68.
• Tang Hao — Father. Tang San consulted him before agreeing to attend Notting Academy 6 8. Tang San later deduces that his father is secretly protecting him and relies on that protection during the Suotuo City confrontation. Their emotional reunion confirms Tang Hao's identity as Clear Sky Douluo; Tang Hao rescues him from Jiang Lin and subsequently withdraws with him and Xiao Xun 67 68 70. Tang Hao continues watching from hiding during Shrek Academy's entrance assessment and becomes furious when Tang San is injured 77.

• Xu Nuo — Jiang Lin's disguised identity, whom Tang San treats as a separate person. Tang San recognizes the danger of Xu Nuo's binding ability and feels uneasy about his assessment strategy, but follows his instructions. Xu Nuo secretly engineers Tang San's injury while publicly acting concerned 75 76 77. Later, Tang San feels an unexplained disgust toward Xu Nuo while watching his violent conduct in the arena, without recognizing the source of the feeling 90.

Tang San’s awakening establishes his exceptional innate talent and hidden Twin Martial Souls. His detached treatment of Jiang Lin also establishes the distance between them before they leave the village 1 6.

Notting Academy Enrollment

At the academy gate, Tang San preserved the damaged enrollment certificates and handed them to Yu Xiaogang, earning the latter’s approval. Yu Xiaogang subsequently accepted him as a disciple 9.

Conflict with Jiang Lin

Tang San challenged Jiang Lin over Yu Xiaogang’s honor. His techniques and concealed weapons failed to overcome the King’s Power Sword, and he resorted to revealing the Clear Sky Hammer only after Jiang Lin held a blade at his throat 10.

Dormitory Seven

Tang San arrived after Jiang Lin had defeated Xiao Wu and established control over Dormitory Seven. His attempts to assist Xiao Wu were rejected, altering the expected connection between them and intensifying his hostility toward Jiang Lin 11 12 16.

During Xiao Chenyu's confrontation with Jiang Lin, Tang San assessed the older students' strength. He believed a well-timed Bone-Piercing Needle could kill Kus, but was uncertain that he could defeat Xiao Chenyu even with all his trump cards 13.

After Jiang Lin's departure, Martial Soul Hall's investigation finds that Tang San knows little about his fellow villager's true identity. Carlot reports their poor relationship and describes Tang San's father only as a drunken blacksmith, leaving Tang Hao's actual identity undiscovered by the investigators at that point 33.

Suotuo City and World Correction

At twelve, Tang San arrives in Suotuo City accompanied by Xiao Xun. His proximity triggers a system notification identifying him as the world's fated protagonist and prompts the system to explain the World Correction Force, which guides disrupted events back toward their original course 66.

Jiang Lin identifies Xiao Xun's Soul Beast nature and suspects that she is a substitute for Xiao Wu arranged by this corrective force. Dai Mubai's arrival with two women also resembles his original first encounter with Tang San, but Jiang Lin intervenes before events can proceed normally 67.

Tang San recognizes Jiang Lin after six years and prepares to resist renewed humiliation. When Jiang Lin reveals six extraordinarily powerful Soul Rings, Tang San nevertheless attacks, relying on his belief that Tang Hao is nearby. His Godly Zhuge Crossbow and poisoned silver needles fail, and Jiang Lin launches a potentially fatal sword strike 67 68.

Tang Hao appears in time to destroy the attack, then openly reveals his identity and fights Jiang Lin. Tang San witnesses Jiang Lin overpower his father's Clear Sky Hammer in their initial clash and warns Tang Hao of the danger 68 69.

Unable to defeat Jiang Lin and having exhausted most of his Soul Power, Tang Hao withdraws with Tang San and Xiao Xun. The early exposure of Tang Hao's identity disrupts the storyline involving Tang San and Dai Mubai, earns Jiang Lin 30,000 Collapse Points, and triggers another World Correction Force warning 70.

Shrek Academy Entrance Assessment

Tang San and Xiao Xun complete their initial entrance tests alongside the other applicants. Li Yusong, impressed by the group's talent, takes them directly to Zhao Wuji's final practical assessment, which requires them to endure for the burning time of one incense stick 75.

Jiang Lin, disguised as Xu Nuo, demonstrates the binding power of his false Book of Mountains and Seas Martial Soul. Tang San immediately considers how dangerous the restraint would be if he hesitated before countering it 75.

Xu Nuo organizes the team's strategy and assigns Tang San the main attacking role. Although Tang San senses something wrong with the arrangement, he follows the plan. After Zhu Zhuqing's attack and Xiao Xun's illusion fail, he binds Zhao Wuji with Entanglement and rapidly growing Blue Silver seeds 76.

Zhao Wuji tears through the cocoon and attacks Tang San. Jiang Lin secretly causes Tang San to freeze momentarily and uses demonic energy to intensify Zhao Wuji's otherwise restrained strike. Tang San takes the blow to his back and is gravely injured 76 77.

Xiao Xun rushes to hold him, and Li Yusong carries him to the infirmary. Neither Tang Hao nor Sword Douluo Chen Xin, both watching from hiding, detects Jiang Lin's interference. Tang Hao instead directs his anger toward Zhao Wuji, while Jiang Lin maintains the appearance of a concerned teammate 77.

Later Shrek Academy Events

Tang San later appears among the Shrek spectators watching Xu Nuo's ruthless conduct against Yu Tianheng and others in the arena. He experiences an unexplained feeling of disgust toward Xu Nuo and questions it, believing that he had not known him before their recent acquaintance 90.
