Background

The Fox Demon is one of the three major demons surrounding Yueyang County. Based on Southern Mountain, she is the nearest of the three to the county seat; her cultivation was initially unknown, and her powerful backing made local authorities unwilling to provoke her 5.

A constable attributed a campaign of witness-silencing to her faction and considered offering villagers to the Fox Demon in return for survival 6. During County Magistrate Xue's escape from the mountain demons, she denied personally attacking him, claiming that she had only followed the battle as an observer 17.
