Then, a tall, slender figure stepped out from the carriage. He wore a black robe embroidered with gilded dragon patterns, his high ponytail bound by an ink-black hair tie that was, astonishingly, a Saint-grade spirit artifact. His blazing Golden Eyes shone brilliantly. It was Jiang Ming.
The moment Jiang Xuanyi and those he had brought saw Jiang Ming, they cried out in unison, "Greetings, Imperial Son!"
With that shout, dozens of figures appeared behind Jiang Ming. Though none released their auras, anyone with discerning eyes could tell they were all Saint Realm experts.
In the next instant, dozens of Saints spread out and surrounded Xuanyuan Square.
Xuanyuan Tian watched the scene before him excitedly. One day, he too wanted to be this imposing!
Those present who had seen Jiang Ming before were stunned once more. They had assumed he was merely an ordinary member of the Imperial Clan, never imagining he was the Imperial Son.
"I am Jiang Ming of the Jiang Clan. I came uninvited; I hope the Xuanyuan Sacred Lord will not take offense," Jiang Ming said with a faint smile.
"With the Imperial Son's arrival, this humble place is bathed in glory. Failing to welcome you was the fault of my Xuanyuan Sacred Land," the Xuanyuan Sacred Lord said with a smile.
"Then that is good. Since it is Xuanyuan's fault, this Imperial Son happens to have an unreasonable request." Jiang Ming's smile grew ever more beautiful.
"Uh... Imperial Son, please speak."
"I'll be taking Liu Qingqing with me." Jiang Ming waved his right hand, and two Lesser Saints immediately stepped forward to restrain Liu Qingqing.
The Xuanyuan Sacred Lord knitted his brows. "What does the Imperial Son mean by this?"
"Are you blind?" Jiang Ming asked.
"Does the Imperial Son intend to make an enemy of Xuanyuan with this act?" the Xuanyuan Sacred Lord asked angrily.
"An enemy? Is Xuanyuan worthy? Ask everyone present—who would dare say they are enemies of my Jiang Clan?" Jiang Ming sneered.
The Xuanyuan Sacred Lord calmed down for a moment. "Imperial Son, Liu Qingqing has long had a marriage engagement with the Xuanyuan Holy Son. What you are doing today may damage the Imperial Clan's prestige!"
Jiang Ming raised a brow. "Liu Qingqing is my woman. Did you not know?"
"The Imperial Son must be joking. Liu Qingqing is the daughter of the Liu Clan's patriarch and has lived in the Liu Clan all year round. How could she be acquainted with the Imperial Son?"
"Now that I have said it, do you understand? Besides, the Liu Clan is already gone." Jiang Ming grinned.
Under the control of the two Lesser Saints, Liu Qingqing came to Jiang Ming's side without resisting in the slightest. Without another word, Jiang Ming lifted her bridal veil.
Liu Qingqing looked at Jiang Ming with complicated eyes. She had never expected the young man before her to possess such a shocking identity. Yet she did not understand—having met only a few times, why would Jiang Ming do this for her?
"You have grown quite a bit more haggard since we last met." Jiang Ming nodded.
The Xuanyuan Sacred Lord looked at the twenty-five Saints around him, his face darkening. "Five Greater Saints and twenty Lesser Saints. The Imperial Son has truly made a grand display!"
As he spoke, he exchanged glances with several Sacred Lords nearby.
"But my Xuanyuan Sacred Land is not so easily bullied!" As the Xuanyuan Sacred Lord's words fell, Saints began appearing one after another within the Xuanyuan Sacred Land.
There were actually thirty Lesser Saints. Together with the Xuanyuan Sacred Lord, there were six Greater Saints in all.
"Could it be that the Xuanyuan Sacred Lord wishes to attack me?" Jiang Ming asked with a smile.
"What the Imperial Son has done is truly alarming. I shall dare to offend you."
"Once you make a move, there will be no turning back!" Jiang Ming narrowed his eyes.
"Attack!" At the Xuanyuan Sacred Lord's command, the Saints of the Xuanyuan Sacred Land clashed with the Saints of the Jiang Imperial Clan. Yet due to their numerical disadvantage, the Jiang Imperial Clan was gradually pushed back.
Fortunately, Jiang Xuanyi made his move, balancing the battle between the two sides.
"Everyone, if you do not act now, when will you? As long as we kill Jiang Ming, sever the Jiang Clan's descendants, and seize the Imperial Clan, the day will be within sight!" the Xuanyuan Sacred Lord declared loudly.
Several people exchanged looks before finally nodding and attacking together. Of the Eight Saint Clans and Six Sacred Lands, aside from Moonlight Sacred Land, the Zhuge Clan, the Chen Clan, and the Zhang Clan, the remaining ten peak powers all joined the assault.
The Zhuge Clan and several other families silently retreated until they had left Xuanyuan Square.
Other than the Xuanyuan Sacred Land, the other nine factions had not brought many experts. Although they had long formed an alliance in secret, today was not the time to confront the Imperial Clan.
However, since the Xuanyuan Sacred Land had already acted, they no longer held back. Transmission tokens flew out one after another. As the Saints of the nine factions attacked together, the Jiang Clan fell into a disadvantage once more.
The other guests had fled Xuanyuan Square the moment the fighting began, some even leaving Xuanyuan Mountain altogether.
Jiang Ming stood where he was, watching the battle that filled the skies. Laws flew wildly through the air—three thousand Dao, three thousand laws.
"You did not need to do this for me. It is not worth it," Liu Qingqing said after remaining silent for a long time.
Jiang Ming raised a brow. "Do not flatter yourself. What does this have to do with you?"
Liu Qingqing bit her lower lip and said nothing more. In her eyes, Jiang Ming was simply being stubborn.
Yet Jiang Ming had spoken the truth. They had long noticed the underhanded moves of Central Province's major factions. Snatching the bride was merely the fuse.
After the time it took to burn an incense stick,
Immortal boats came pressing in from afar, one after another. They were the reinforcements of the other nine factions.
The ten powers were not far apart in strength. In total, they had five hundred and twenty Lesser Saints and fifty-three Greater Saints.
Seeing this, Jiang Ming smiled.
"Jiang Ming, you can still smile now? The Imperial Clan's rule of countless millennia will collapse because of you!" the Xuanyuan Sacred Lord laughed loudly.
"Is everyone here?" Jiang Ming asked.
"Since they are all here, kill them all!" Those words did not come from Jiang Ming. A figure appeared beside him—it was Jiang Lingtian, patriarch of the Jiang Imperial Clan.
Jiang Lingtian's appearance froze the entire battlefield. In the next instant, ten figures with similar auras appeared and surrounded Jiang Lingtian. They were, astonishingly, the ancestors of the ten great powers.
"Patriarch Jiang, would it not be better for your Imperial Clan to remain peacefully in the Spirit Realm?" the Xuanyuan Ancestor said.
"Hehe, certain people do not know their own limits, so I have come to teach them a lesson." Jiang Lingtian smiled faintly.
"Haha, Patriarch Jiang, you jest. With no Great Emperor emerging today, the Imperial Clan has already declined. I fear you may not be able to do it!" Earthshadow Ancestor said, narrowing his eyes.
"Then let us try!" Jiang Lingtian said. A silver-white spear appeared in his hand—it was the Imperial Artifact, the Silver Dragon Gallbladder Spear. A set of silver-white armor automatically equipped itself upon him—the Imperial Artifact, the Silverfeather Cloudcrest Armor.
With two Imperial Artifacts in hand, the aura of a Peak Saint surged once more, directly crushing everyone present.
"Hmph, you merely bask in your ancestors' lingering shade. Attack together and take him down!" Earthshadow Ancestor said.
Jiang Lingtian laughed heartily. "I'll fight ten!" But after a single exchange, Jiang Lingtian's momentum plummeted. He staggered back and spat out a mouthful of blood.
Jiang Ming watched with some speechlessness. "No, Dad, what are you showing off for?"
Jiang Lingtian gave an embarrassed smile. With Imperial Artifacts in hand, he had felt as though the world was his, as though he were invincible. Reality, however, gave him a heavy blow.
"Attack together!" the Xuanyuan Ancestor said.
"We have grown old. Having not acted for so long, the younger generation thinks we are all dead," an aged voice rang out.
"Indeed. The Imperial Clan has supposedly declined, and now every stray cat and dog has thoughts of rebellion."
"Good. Central Province has been peaceful for too long. It is time to reshuffle the deck. Some people no longer remember who gave them the right to enjoy these resources."
One aged figure after another appeared. They were, astonishingly, the ancestors from within the Jiang Imperial Mausoleum.
