Background

Qian Renchu was born as Qian Xunji’s son and Qian Renxue’s twin older brother, but retained the memories of an ordinary high-school student from another world. Knowing the tragedies that awaited Qian Renxue, he resolved from childhood to protect her, preserve Spirit Hall, and destroy those he believed would cause its downfall. 1

At six years old, he awakened the Destruction Angel Martial Soul. The awakening’s destructive aura engulfed Spirit Hall and drew the attention of the Destruction God King, who removed Renchu from the lower realm and accepted him as his sole disciple. 1 2

Renchu spent seventeen years training on an isolated island under the Destruction God King and the Life God King. Before sending him back, his master warned him never to reveal the God Kings’ identities or openly involve gods in lower-realm affairs. 3

He returned to Spirit City at age twenty-three, learned that Qian Xunji had died and that Qian Renxue had been left to infiltrate the Heaven Dou Empire alone, and began acting openly against Bibi Dong, Tang San’s faction, and Spirit Hall’s external enemies. 3 5

Qian Renchu is a 1.92-meter-tall young man with frost-silver hair, a jade-like build, sword-like brows, starry eyes, and an intense aura of slaughter. He usually appears in white robes, though he also wears black robes and a mask when intervening in political conflicts. 3 35

Qian Renchu is intensely devoted to Qian Renxue. His tenderness toward her contrasts sharply with his treatment of nearly everyone else: he blames himself for her years of isolation, repeatedly promises to protect her, and distributes rare Soul Bones to strengthen both her and her protectors. 7 28 65

He is calculating, ambitious, and uncompromising in his pursuit of Spirit Hall’s supremacy. He plans campaigns strategically—such as attacking the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect at its headquarters rather than assassinating its leaders on the road—but regards opposition to Spirit Hall or Qian Renxue as grounds for extermination. 24 32 38
