The Final Victory Is Mine, John!
"Damn dead bird! Of all places to shit, it had to shit on my head! You'd better not let me catch you, or you're in for some nasty juice!" In the jungle, John cursed as he wiped the bird droppings from his hand onto a tree trunk. Then he immediately raised his right hand, pointed at the branches overhead, and launched into a furious tirade.
He practically wanted to pull out his gun and shoot every last bird in this godforsaken jungle.
Having shit rain down on his head had thoroughly disgusted the wise and mighty Warrant Officer John.
Yet to Jett, watching from behind, John's actions became a transmission of tactical hand signals.
"This is... the number of units? More than two? And Warrant Officer John deliberately pointed toward the sky, meaning the enemy not only has ground combat capability, but also anti-air units?"
"John learned this intelligence, so he sent the mage soldiers under his command elsewhere. Is he planning for us to draw fire from the front, creating an opportunity for the unexposed mage soldiers to launch a surprise attack?"
"To think he came up with such a precise plan in so little time... John, you truly are a genius!"
Having already "understood" everything, Colonel Jett silently praised him. But after learning of John's "plan," he felt no relief. Instead, his brow furrowed tightly.
It was not that he thought John's plan was bad. After all, if the force he had brought this time had been an ordinary army unit, then even sacrificing these soldiers to create an opening for victory on the battlefield would have been entirely acceptable.
But the key was that he had brought the Empire's elite assassination unit this time. Every member had been cultivated at great expense by the Empire. Wasting them on a frontal battlefield would be far too regrettable.
What was more, following John's earlier warning and Reno's reconnaissance, he had confirmed that the enemy troops in the trenches ahead had set up some unknown magical device in advance.
Before determining the exact effect of that magical device, if they clashed head-on with the enemy...
Then, having voluntarily exposed their tracks, they would most likely suffer unprecedented losses. It was even possible that the enemy would eliminate them within a few exchanges.
After all, although the Allied Forces had not trained mage soldiers unique to the Empire, their research into magical technology had reached a level the Empire could only watch from afar.
Aside from the Anti-Magic Device that gave the Empire the greatest headaches, those magical devices capable of casting large-scale debuff spells and producing all kinds of special effects were also exceptionally difficult for Imperial soldiers to deal with.
"Of course, if there really is no better way, then this is all we can do..."
Colonel Jett gave a bitter smile inwardly. Yet for some reason, when he saw that figure through his binoculars, an unprecedented sense of anticipation rose in his heart.
Warrant Officer John, if it's you, you can definitely think of a better solution, right?
"Achoo! What's going on? Why did I suddenly sneeze for no reason? Don't tell me that idiot Wendy is cursing me?" John had just wiped off the bird shit when he inexplicably sneezed, even with snot running out of his nose. He could not help cursing under his breath.
Feeling the saltiness on his lips, he was thoroughly nauseated. He hurriedly blew his nose, then wiped it onto the tree trunk beside him.
Though he found his inexplicable bad luck today rather baffling, John assumed it was all coincidence and did not think much of it.
After simply cleaning the grime off his hands, he stood where he was and took several deep breaths. Then, baring his teeth in a broad grin, he cheerfully strode toward the trenches ahead.
He had already wasted far too much time hiding away those few pieces of gold.
Now, he had to hurry to the trenches and welcome his future coworkers.
Otherwise, if that idiot Wendy discovered that every order he had given was a lie, then he knew without even using his ass to think that the enraged 14th Squad would definitely execute him on the spot.
But unfortunately for you, the final victory was mine, John's!
Because this warrant officer was about to successfully jump ship.
So, you little workhorses, when the time came, you should just surrender obediently while surrounded by this warrant officer's future coworkers.
As your commanding officer, this warrant officer would definitely try his best to secure decent treatment for you.
The more John thought about it, the happier he became. His steps quickened, and he even began humming a little tune without realizing it.
Looking at the trenches drawing ever closer and smelling the aroma of food drifting through the air,
John knew that the freedom he had long awaited was finally about to arrive.
