Inside the Governor's Office in Faoken, even John was a little surprised when an excited Fritz told him the latest result of the vote.

To make sure Faoken survived the Old Guard Party's targeted bill, John had used a communication device during some downtime a week earlier to check in with Headmaster Tolovsky. While asking about the recent study progress of the 303rd Independent Division's resident geniuses, he had casually brought up the Demon King's Army's votes.

He had never expected that one passing remark to prompt all thirty-six Demon King's Army legislators under the headmaster to vote against the bill.

Still less had he expected Donner to actually persuade the Western Frontier's legislators to vote against it as a bloc.

John had already made plans in case the Restriction Bill passed. He would apply to the Empire for permission to establish a new military district on the former sites of the Ember Scale and Abyssscale tribes on Morno Continent, on the grounds that his two army groups had no suitable bases.

If the Old Guard Party agreed, the distance between Morno Continent and Faoken meant the new district would differ little from a base inside Faoken, even if it did not belong to the territory on paper. Once war broke out, the two army groups could assemble at Fang City and launch an attack in under three hours.

And if the Old Guard Party objected, so much the better. He could apply to the Empire for a territory in the homeland to station the army groups.

That would plant two powerful forces directly inside the Empire's homeland, greatly easing his party's later underground expansion and development. The only drawback was that Galil and Sellviya would likely have to remain at
