Background / History

Apprentice, mother, and village protector

Tally was trained by High Priestess Sauna Rivermane and became a respected Shaman of Bloodhoof Village. Her son Sian initially hoped to follow her path, but failed to form an elemental affinity; Tally comforted him and arranged for Tamara Bloodhoof to train him as a hunter instead 7 10.

She was Carl Bloodhoof’s wife and Sian’s mother. Her concern for both of them consistently shaped her choices during the crisis surrounding Bloodhoof Village 19 35 39.

The crystal core incident

During Vel’th’s assault, Sauna sent Tally away with the dangerous crystal core recovered by Moon, believing the High Priestess herself was the Satyr’s target. Vel’th instead used a hidden force field to isolate Tally; the blast killed two accompanying Shamans and embedded the core in Tally’s chest 19.

The core remade Tally into an elemental being and bound her to Vel’th’s plan to create the “true face of Nightmare.” As corruption turned her elemental energy crimson, she resisted with her remaining will rather than allow the creature to destroy Bloodhoof Village 19 20.

Tally deliberately accepted death at Vel’th’s hands, preventing him from sacrificing her transformed body to claim its power. Her choice dispersed the power he sought and ruined a plan he had prepared for nearly ten years 20.

Return and purification

Tally later reappeared when Vel’th tortured the gravely injured Sian. She immobilized the Storm King with red magical spheres and a suppressive field before attacking him with a giant manifested axe 34.

Reunited with Carl, she fought alongside him against Vel’th’s servants Sandresa and Azresok. The couple’s coordination—Tally’s protection, cleansing, and totems supporting Carl’s direct combat—allowed them to defeat both demons 35 36 38.

After Vel’th was reduced to a broken storm body, Tally stopped Carl from killing him immediately, warning that the unstable elemental remnants within him could annihilate everything for several kilometers. She attempted to purify the corrupted elements through her connection to the Storm Core, but the attempt instead unleashed a destructive tornado 39.

Tally prepared a grand purification ritual using ceremonial totems while Carl restrained the storm. Her reconstructed body began dissolving under the strain until Sian’s power restored her and reinforced her barrier 40.

She is compassionate even toward Vel’th after his defeat, refusing to let Carl kill him when doing so would endanger the village. Her courage is reinforced by her belief that no burden must be faced alone 39.
