By the time Roderick and Augustine returned to Southshore with Priest Isda Hallmon, several months had passed since their departure.

Thanks to its relatively safe environment, ample manpower, and excellent tools, Watchtower Village's cultivated land expanded explosively once again.

The east bank of the Hillsbrad River had also been developed, with busy farmers working in the fields. All the flat land around Nethander Stead had been planted with wheat, while the dense forest at Watchtower Village's frontier had begun to be cleared by burning. It too would become fertile land in the future.

Influenced by Roderick's frenzied land reclamation at Watchtower Village, Hillsbrad, which already possessed vast farmland, had also voluntarily organized its villagers to begin reclaiming land.

The farmers cleared the vast tracts of land south of the town. After simple plowing, they planted hardy potatoes and corn. More land and greater yields were every farmer's ultimate dream.

Limited by its terrain, Southshore had only a small amount of land available for development. Mayor Heni therefore vigorously developed the fishing industry according to the town's own strengths. A small portion of the catch was sold to nearby residents, while another portion was stored in warehouses and salted into preserved fish. The rest was sold directly at the docks. Even trade fleets from other places purchased considerable amounts due to the low prices and good quality.

Unfortunately, Southshore's once sizable livestock industry had suffered devastating losses during last year's Undead attack. A large number of animals died, nearly destroying the region's fragile breeding stock.
