The Silver Dawn knight squads that had set out earlier began returning to the chapel one after another. With their support, some Silver Dawn soldiers finally managed to retreat from the field fortifications.
The knights who had gone out reported that the Silver Dawn banner hanging atop the eastern wall watchtower had completely vanished, replaced by an ugly Scourge banner fluttering in its place.
With the defensive position closest to Light's Hope Chapel completely overrun by the Undead, the Silver Dawn forces, having lost all their outer positions, were now entirely surrounded by the Scourge.
"Has the request for reinforcements sent to Tyr's Hand received a response?" Maxwell did not yet know the details of the Scarlet Crusade's situation. Geographically speaking, Tyr's Hand, southeast of the chapel, should still have been safe for the time being.
"General Abbendis replied that a large number of Gargoyles have appeared near Tyr's Hand. She is gathering the order and preparing to depart for Light's Hope Chapel's aid," said the mage responsible for relaying intelligence.
"That is wonderful!"
"Holy Light be praised!"
"Who knows when they will arrive? This enemy is far too powerful."
Inside the chapel's meeting room, the knights discussed the matter heatedly. The Scarlet Crusade was the only outside force they could count on.
The Silver Dawn commanders had finally received a piece of good news. The Scourge's sudden full-scale assault had cost them all their outer strongholds and roughly one-fifth of their troops.
