These poor souls, killed by the Undead, had yet to realize they were dead. They lived as normal humans would, walking the streets, chatting with nearby neighbors, and occasionally breaking into laughter.
Then their bodies turned transparent and vanished, only to suddenly reappear somewhere else and continue this terrifying cycle.
Perhaps these were the last memories they retained before death. The goodness lingering within them had kept these ghosts from becoming servants of the Undead, leaving them to perform a sorrowful pantomime within Stratholme's dreadful prison. Day after day, with no end in sight, until the day they were purified by the Holy Light.
Abbendis and the others suppressed the grief in their hearts and moved silently through the ghosts. The tragic fate of Stratholme's citizens filled them all with sorrow, but unless they reclaimed Stratholme, these people would never find release.
The negative emotions weighing on them gradually began to fade after they spotted a dilapidated chapel. As Abbendis drew closer, she could even feel the surging power of the Holy Light radiating from the building.

The chapel before them had fallen into utter ruin. Boards near its steeple had begun to fall away, its doors were completely gone, and its windows had become nothing more than holes.
Yet to their surprise, the holy fire inside the chapel was still blazing fiercely, showing no sign of going out.
