Background & History
Elufiel awakens beneath a tree in the snowbound Green Forest after falling asleep in Sunfury Spire, Silvermoon City. Attacked by two gray wolves, she protects herself with Power Word: Shield, kills one with a holy spell, and flees the unfamiliar forest after realizing that its magical energy is unusually abundant and dangerous to her addiction 1.
Her search for civilization brings her to an unnamed young arcanist—later revealed as Odovish Snow—whose mana overwhelms her restraint. In a state of addiction-induced delirium, she binds him with Void Tendrils, breaks his barrier with Holy Radiance, and forcibly drains his mana through a kiss. After escaping, she regains clarity, is horrified by her actions, and begins to suspect that she may no longer be in Azeroth 3.
At Fairy Tale Town, Odovish confirms that she is on the Kanado Continent rather than Azeroth. He offers to teach her the local language and guide her through Kanado; Elufiel accepts under the name “Elur,” intending to travel with him until she understands the new world 4 5. She later reveals that she is a Blood Elf whose people manage a hereditary mana addiction by absorbing magical energy 6.
While traveling through Halor and Bitter City, Elufiel learns of Kanado’s persecution of arcanists, the political dominance of the Holy See, and the historical Arcane-Divine Conflict. She refuses to accept the continent’s prejudices at face value, maintaining that professions and races should be judged by their actions rather than official labels 6 8 15.
In Ata Town, she helps end a curse epidemic by locating and killing its rabbit source. She then uses Purify to save the infected ranger Eli, earning the town’s gratitude while openly criticizing the Church’s slow response 13 14. Her subsequent travels take her to Gryphon City, where she becomes involved with Odovish’s family, heals Goliath’s injuries in secret, and helps Odovish save the cursed arcanist Eugene 24 26.
When Odovish confronts Archbishop Terrence and the Holy See at the Feiyin River, Elufiel chooses to join him of her own accord. She shields, heals, and fights beside him, rejecting Terrence’s belief that she was manipulated into supporting an arcanist 43 44. By the time they reach the Lista Council, she has become a trusted companion whose lively presence helps Odovish confront the painful memories tied to his former imprisonment there 50.
Appearance
Elufiel appears as an extraordinarily beautiful young elf, though she is actually an elder Blood Elf with extensive experience and a much older perspective than her appearance suggests 5 11.
- Emerald-green eyes that can appear to glow when her mana addiction intensifies 2.
- Long, pointed ears; she often conceals them with a hood, enchanted earring, or false identity 1 8.
- Pale, snow-white skin that does not easily develop a healthy flush 6.
- Slightly curled golden hair and ruby ear studs 28 27.
- Commonly wears vivid red, white, purple, or enchanted robes; her clothing is frequently more revealing by Kanado standards than she realizes 1 23 29.
- Her Blood Elf staff has a red shaft, gold detailing, emerald gemstones, and a flame-like golden head 26.
Personality
Elufiel is practical and remarkably composed in immediate danger, treating hostile wolves, curses, and violent outbreaks as problems to solve rather than reasons to panic. She is also independent-minded: she rejects Kanado’s assumption that arcanists are inherently evil and judges people according to courage, compassion, and behavior 1 6 13 15.
Her curiosity is restless and often childlike. She is fascinated by mounts, magical creatures, gryphons, markets, magical artifacts, and unfamiliar customs; this curiosity can make her impulsive, easily bored, and prone to causing chaos in otherwise restrained environments 15 21 50.
Despite her confidence, mana addiction leaves her vulnerable to desperation, shame, and impaired judgment. She deeply dislikes her dependence on magical energy and fears becoming a Wretched, but believes her continued sanity lets her survive the condition without fully surrendering to it 2 16.
Elufiel is blunt, playful, and fond of teasing Odovish, especially when he becomes embarrassed or jealous. Beneath this humor, she is emotionally perceptive: she recognizes his grief and trauma, supports him without pitying him, and ultimately trusts him enough to fight at his side 15 35 43 50.
Abilities & Skills
Divine Magic
Elufiel is an exceptionally powerful divine spellcaster. Odovish judges her capable of fighting a Saint-tier mage, placing her at least at Saint-tier by Kanado’s standards 48.
- Power Word: Shield — Creates a pale-golden protective barrier; she can repeatedly recast it against lesser threats 1 13.
- Holy Nova — Emits a burst that heals allies while damaging enemies; it incapacitated large numbers of cursed rabbits, infected townspeople, and lower-tier Paladins 13 43.
- Purify — Removes diseases and certain curse-derived afflictions, including the infection affecting Eli 11 14.
- Holy Hymn — A major restorative spell that completely replenished Odovish’s depleted Arcane energy during the Feiyin River battle 26 44.
- Penance — Channels multiple arcs of Holy Light to inflict concentrated damage; used to wound Archbishop Terrence 44.
- Prayer of Mending — Cast on Odovish while he prepared a large-scale spell 43.
- Silence — Interrupts enemy casting; Elufiel used it to prevent Terrence from shielding Vincent 44.
- Holy Radiance — Broke through Odovish’s Wind Wall during their first encounter 3.
Shadow Magic
Elufiel can use shadow-based spells despite being identified publicly as a divine caster.
- Void Tendrils — Summons shadowy tendrils from the ground to restrain a target; they initially resisted Odovish’s Wind Blades 3.
- Shadow Word: Pain — Used against Terrence after he attacked her at the Feiyin River 43.
Mobility and Mount Summoning
Elufiel possesses a personal “mount space,” which she explains as a creator-bound parallel space accessed through spatial magic 11.
- Can summon and dismiss mounts without conventional stables or transport arrangements 2 11.
- Uses Golden Angelic Feathers and Angelic Feather for rapid movement and evasive maneuvers 3 44.
- Can use Levitate, though Odovish considers it insufficiently safe for high descents 43.
- Uses Slow Fall only through Odovish’s assistance in the documented encounter 43.
Mana Absorption and Addiction
As a Blood Elf, Elufiel suffers from a severe craving for magical energy. Without access to Azeroth’s Sunwell, she relies on mana stored in enchanted objects, spells, and—on at least one occasion—another caster’s mana 2 3 16.
- Strong magical fluctuations can overwhelm her judgment and provoke violent, compulsive behavior 2 3.
- Absorbing magic from enchanted items can temporarily stabilize her condition 16.
- Felweed and Bloodthistle-like mana plants are potentially useful but dangerous because of their addictive properties 32 35.
- She has resisted becoming a Wretched, though she considers the condition a constant risk 2 16.
Mind Vision and Deception
Elufiel combines magical tools with quick improvisation to avoid detection.
- Used Mind Vision on Odovish to secretly follow his perspective after he attempted to travel alone 42.
- Used the Sin’dorei Orb to make Eugene appear as a Blood Elf, then deceived Judgement Tribunal members with a fabricated history and a small demonstration of Holy Light 39.
- Understands how to exploit the Holy See’s political caution around elves rather than confronting authorities directly 39.
Equipment & Items
- Ruby-set storage bracelet — A Blood Elf-style bracelet used to store supplies, clothing, and other belongings 1.
- Red cloak — Used to conceal her ears and elven identity after arriving in Kanado 1.
- Enchanted red earring — Given by Odovish; hides her pointed ears through a confusion spell 8.
- Blood Elf staff — Ornate red-and-gold staff used while healing Eugene 26.
- Sin’dorei Orb — Temporarily transforms another creature into an elf; used to disguise Eugene 39.
- Orb of Deception — Delivered by Eugene; can temporarily make someone appear to belong to an enemy faction 47.
- Temple of the Stars identification plaque — Presented by Odovish to establish their standing before Holy See Paladins 14.
Mounts and Animal Companions
- Purple-feathered Chocobo — Her first summoned mount in Kanado; gentle toward her and used for rapid travel 2.
- Forest wolves — Saddle-equipped mounts she describes as harmless unless provoked 11.
- Spectral Tiger — A massive translucent blue tiger with stone armor and a saddle; fiercely protective but affectionate toward Elufiel 32 34.
- Wind Rider — Used to reach the Feiyin River battlefield 43.
- Various summoned animals — Includes birds, penguins, a dinosaur-like hatchling, wolf pups, cats, and other creatures that she releases around Odovish’s Lista manor 50.
Relationships
- Odovish Snow — Initially the victim of Elufiel’s mana-draining attack; later becomes her guide, language teacher, traveling companion, and closest ally in Kanado. Their relationship develops through mutual trust, teasing, protective behavior, and increasingly explicit emotional attachment 3 5 16 43 50.
- Eugene — An arcanist Elufiel helps save from a lethal curse. She later disguises him from the Judgement Tribunal and travels alongside him during part of the journey north 26 39 42.
- Eli — Ranger and high-ranking mercenary whom Elufiel cures after the Ata Town outbreak. He admires her openly, while Odovish responds with visible hostility toward his attention 14 15.
- Goliath — Odovish’s young relative. Elufiel secretly heals her vampire-bat injuries and becomes the target of Goliath’s many questions about religion, healing, and marriage 24.
- Yano — Odovish’s wind elemental. Elufiel finds him endearing and plays with him when Odovish summons him to distract her from mana hunger 16.
- Sandel — Odovish’s Golden-crowned Thunder Eagle. Though aggressive by nature, Sandel permits Elufiel to touch him and later tolerates her many summoned animals 50.
