Bai Zhu stared at the black bird outside the porthole, his drink suspended halfway to his mouth.

That thing was flying far too close.

Close enough for him to see the damaged edges of its feathers and the cracked lines around its single eye, as if it had not slept in a very long time.

Piyu followed his gaze and glanced outside.

"What are you looking at?"

Bai Zhu did not answer. He raised a hand and waved it in front of her.

"You really can't see it?"

As if remembering something, Piyu opened her phone's camera and aimed it out the window.

There was nothing but clouds on the screen.

The black bird did not disappear because of Piyu's actions. Bai Zhu tilted his head toward the screen in her hand and indeed could not see the black bird on it.

The black bird made no threatening move. It merely cocked its head and watched him.
