Milluki's terminal let out a shrill alarm, shattering the island's brief peace.

"Energy fluctuations in the direction of the Lighthouse are spiking!"

Bai Zhu tore his gaze from the ancient characters floating above the Soul King's Pen and whipped his head toward the solitary Lighthouse in the distance.

What the hell?

All I did was touch that sticky stuff with the tip of the pen. Why had the Landlord shown up, and why was the Lighthouse acting up too?

Before he could make sense of it, a fragrant breeze swept past him.

The enormous silver-white owl had already landed soundlessly beside him, its single golden eye fixed on him without blinking.

"Hoo."

The Landlord called once, then raised its enormous beak and gave Bai Zhu a moderate tap on the forehead.

It barely hurt, but the insult was immense.

That tap brought Bai Zhu an instant flash of understanding.

What had he forgotten?

Oh, right.

Paying his respects to the local boss.

He had come onto someone else's turf and gotten so caught up in his research that he hadn't offered the owner any tribute. Wasn't he just asking for a knock on the head?

"My bad, my bad. I forgot to pay my respects to my Godfather."

Bai Zhu immediately put on a fawning smile and deftly began pulling things out of his System Inventory.

The next second, everyone present witnessed a miracle.

Bag after bag of vacuum-packed dried fish and dried meat appeared out of thin air, forming a small mountain on the beach in the blink of an eye.

Knuckle's and Shuto's jaws nearly hit the ground.

Gela Jiang rubbed his eyes, leaned toward Milluki, and lowered his voice.

"This guy... does he speak bird? Why do I get the feeling he communicates with birds especially well?"
